Are there two opposing viewpoints of something where you have trouble arguing against both of them?

I have that trouble all the time.

Examples include gun control laws, abortion laws. No matter which side I try to find good arguments against, it seems that I always get the lower hand.

(Good thing to be defeated by argument is that you feel like you were defeated fair and square.)

Anyone else having those kinds of problems?

The legality/morality of loli/shotacon is a topic I try to avoid, since, speaking from experience, the discussion really never goes anywhere, people who are against it will be against it, and people who are for it will be for it.

The arguments always end in either "let's agree to disagree" or just "fuck you, you're wrong"

To be fair, that's probably like 70% of all internet arguments. More if you want to talk about controversial stuff specifically.

Anyways, I wouldn't necessarily say it's "arguing against both of them", but pirating. I'd describe myself more on the side of against than pro, but there are a lot of exceptions for reasons not to pirate.

That happens to me with just about any controversial issue. Even after I formulate a conclusion, there is a nagging part of me that says I am ignoring the good points of the other side. I think it's me trying to be objective, as well as my obsessive qualities and occaisional low self confidence. To give a relatively harmless example, I have complicated views on competitive Smash Bros. that have been building up for over a decade. Even though I feel that I have gathered more than enough information to reach a worthy conclusion (that it is a valid method of play but overblown because it fails to represent the qualities which make Smash interesting and unique), the knowledge that so many would fiercley disagree intimidates me, so I am hesitant to bring it up.

To give some not-so-harmless examples: censorship, nihilism, religion, modernity, morality, the Trump presidency, and the disgraceful leadership of the Republican and Democratic parties. I won't bore you with those.

Sometimes I feel as if the west should stop imposing its own standards onto other countries (ex. kicking out dictators when they haven't attacked directly the west, bringing up issues that wouldn't sit well in the west although these other countries view these as the only solution to their problems, etc.).

But at the same time, there are things that happen in these other countries that I just don't agree with (ex. extrajudicial killings, arranged marriages, whaling among other things, and etc.).

agreed pretty much. gotta say the same with every other comment tho[except the loli one, I think that's just undebatably a bad thing lol]

I'd say something I have conflicted feelings about is probably just America itself. America is both the pinnacle of democracy & human rights, that helped inspire democracy for the better to be the dominant form of government today, has taken out corrupt regimes like Saddam Hussein's Iraq, even going toe-to-toe with both Nazi Germany and The USSR and winning and has undeniably led for millions of people from all over the world and all walks of life to truly find the American Dream & make a name for themselves.

while also being a place that lags behind the rest of the west when it comes to it's democratic standards[such as stuff like the electoral college, lack of NHC, significant racism & instability, etc.], invading literally anywhere even if it is a genuine democracy if it goes slightly against how it thinks a democracy should exactly work[or just whatever big corporations say isn't a democracy], has installed dictatorships in it's place to "protect democracy"[see: Iran and Chile], even when taking out actual dictators tend to install dictators that are just as bad, if not worse. the civil rights era also shows the hypocrisy in "everyone being equal" but failing to actually deliver numerous times.

Still would take this place over the USSR or Nazis again tho. so I guess there's a slight leaning towards "pro"

Honestly speaking, the whole Vic Mignona situation.
I'm neutral on the whole thing because both sides have quite compelling arguments.
There has been stuff where some "victims" have exaggerated or doctored stories and pictures (like someone wanting the person in the picture to doctor it so he looks like he's groping her, or that one person in Funimation faking a SWATting post).

However, there were also rumors of Vic being a creep that have been going on since 2006-7 or so, so that could also be quite a compelling argument.

And then there's all his fellow voice actors speaking out against him, some on extreme cases like Monica Rial and Jamie Miarchi. I don't really know what to say about the VAs' stances on this, as well as this situation as a whole, which is why I'm completely neutral about it.

[except the loli one, I think that's just undebatably a bad thing lol]

Funnily enough, by you saying its "undebatable" you're basically proving my point even further lol.

People hold such strong opinions on the topic that are unlikely to change at all, so more often than not it's just pointless to even argue about it, the conversation just never goes anywhere.

with the whole loli thing, i'm not into lolis and will never be into them. EVER.

now for other things, that depends honestly. i tend to be very left leaning and tend to mostly agree with leftist talking points. well, apart from certain kinds of censorship.

But…nobody asked if you were into them? The question was whether you could argue in favor or against it. Just like someone could argue against gun bans while not having any desire to own a gun themselves.

The whole Brett Kavanaugh controversy. Everyone was talking about it, and my school's library even had it live. From the little I saw, there didn't seem to be a whole lot of conclusive evidence, but Kavanaugh really rubbed me the wrong way, especially after Gorsuch was shown to be a fine guy after all that.

On a lighter note, the Overwatch vs Team Fortress 2 debate. I loved playing OW for a year, but I lost interest a little before Bridgette went to regular play thank God. I've tried TF2, and while I have a lot of fun with it, I could never get into a match. Winning never felt great, but losing never felt horrible. The one hero shooter that I really enjoy is Paladins. It's incredibly buggy, but it runs great on my laptop, and I love the customization to a characters skills.
