It seems whatever we say is now irrelevant, as the boy was suspended from school and charged for assault already.
Granted that schools doing something about bullying only when exposed to the public is pretty fucked up, though.
What is there to defend?
Assault isn't protected under any law.

Many schools only do something about bullying when they can't ignore it anymore, many schools think it's not their job to make sure the kids that are forced to be there aren't assaulted or tormented.
