What is america?

You must have heard about this one song by Childish Gambino. You also must have heard that it features very deep message, which is hidden for some reason.

I remember long times ago we analyzed one poem in literature class. We tried to link strings from poem to a situation back then and personal views of author. I took it little bit too literally and said that wheat is opressed people and sky is their free will and future. Teacher said that I look too deep and not everything has additional meaning.

So back to our song. I see that people interpret events and lyric in a different ways, often opposing eachother. But if we assume that Childish Gambino had message and wasn't just troll who giggles thinking how he bamboozled everyone, what was his message? Hidden messages in literature usually being used when censorship blocks straight expression, which is hardly the case here.

So my question is simple. Since message has only one true meaning do you know what it is? Preferably one that was confirmed by author himself.

(The United States of) America is a federal republic located in North America. It borders Canada to the north and Mexico to the south. It is comprised of fifty states and five self-governing territories. It's capital is Washington D.C. It's largest city is New York city. It's national language is English. It's current Head of State is Donald J. Trump.

I think the video is more along the lines of people in the USA have become desensitized to violence around us, we just want to get on with our lives and enjoy life partying and dancing.

>Everyone dancing in the foreground while tragedies are happening in the background
>Every single car or prop in the background is outdated or trashy, nothing is flashy even tho people show them off
>Song ends with everyone running away

I shouldn't have to tell you what the messages here are. And no, a song doesn't stop having a message because you disagree and issues don't disappear just because you don't experience or see them.

Oh and, you really don't know much about mediums if you think hidden messages only exists to bypass censorship or open ended works only has one definitive answers or meanings.
