That actually isn't just limited to leafy. Anytime any youtuber says something negative about someone, and points out who that person, his fans (provided he has a sizable fanbase) tend to search those people out in order to send vitriol at the person in question.
I've seen it happen with pewdiepie, GradeAUnderA, BlackBusterCritic (who had to make a video telling his fans to stop brigaiding people he makes fun of in his videos) and many others.

i feel like YouTube has just turned into a war. Like everybody is against each other because their videos are "offensive" or some shit. Like seriously who gives a shit. There have been offensive videos on YouTube for many years before now and nobody made a big deal out of it because its simple, if its offensive, dont watch it. But now, if they are the slightest bit offended, they gotta make a video, tweet about it, and start an angry mob to go attack them and its getting so out of hand. If you are offended, its as simple as clicking a fucking button. People need to grow the fuck up. And I dont necessarily blame some YouTube, but i also blame a lot of fan bases for being bat shit crazy and attacking everybody that has an opinion different than theirs.
