Let’s talk about this recently passed bill in the senate. If you haven’t read the recently trending KYM page of the same name, I suggest you check it out first.
. . .
OK. So, C.I.S.A. is a bill that supposedly “improves cybersecurity in the United States through enhanced sharing of information about cybersecurity threats, and for other purposes.” Naturally, this may sound as something good, from the “average” person. But don’t be fooled; this bill has a bigger meaning than what its description says. What the bill does is allow the sharing of internet traffic information between the government and manufacturing companies. This means that, for example, no matter what you do on Google, you and your private information, as well as your history could be given away by Google to big divisions of the government, such as the NSA, for free.
And no, clearing out your browsing data will not keep you safe. Don’t try.
Google isn’t the only company that could send your private online history/information. It is virtually any company or website that records your data. And here is where the bill kicks us in the balls: If you TRY to sue any of these companies or domains for giving your information to the government, the C.I.S.A. bill gives the companies IMMUNITY towards lawsuits. Therefore, you are screwed, unless the companies do not give the information to the government.
