So today Sepp Blatter was re-elected again as the President of the FIFA, despite the arrest of 7 high ranked FIFA officials earlier this week and the still constant claims of corrupition.

Should Blatter be re-elected, several first world countries already spoke their displease over this, and have threatened with not participating in the World Cup in Russia.

What is going to happen to the FIFA? Are Europe, Australia, and North America stepping out of the FIFA and start their own type of World Cup? Or is this all overreaction and will they forget about it by next week? And what of the FBI arrests, will we see more?

As an American, we don't really have a good grasp of what FIFA is. But I can say that those who are in the know are not happy with the general goings-on of FIFA.

But even an outsider to international football knows that FIFA is generally hated and pretty darn corrupt if Qatar (which is next to the climatological equivalent of hell) is still set to be the site of the World Cup in the middle of summer in any year.

Blatter is at the head of that and benefits from the standard proceedings of FIFA. There's no reason to believe it would change with him at the helm.
 
As for whether the Americas, Europe, and Asia can pull together to create their own league (which would only be moderately corrupt), I can't say. But such a move might bring more popularity to North America. And in terms of popularity, North America is the Last Frontier.

There's money to be made here, American football is losing some momentum with the concussion and suicide problems seen in retired players, and you have the US's interest in international football come World Cup time, regardless of how bad we are.

Take in mind here that all the continents also have their seperate cups. These cups are also organised by the FIFA.

Europe could easily create an Euro Cup by itself. If they lead by that example, and other continents follow, you're gonna put the FIFA in a tight spot.

I really think the UEFA's threats are just saber rattling and get the feeling Visa, Coke, and Adidas are going to be the ones that force change. They'll finally get fed up with their logos appearing in the background every time FIFA announces more corruption, kick FIFA in the shins, which will trigger Blatter to resign, which will result in a "FIFA's Blatter Unable to Hold It In" headline. Money is the only thing that gets FIFA to listen, so money will ultimately be what pressures them to do the "right" thing.

Either that or one of the cronies spills the beans to the FBI and the snake's head gets decapitated.

Sepp Blatter is a cunt, There should NEVER be a World Cup at a country like Qatar, And im quite sure that in the 2002 world cup FIFA rigged matches in favor of the host South Korea.

Even better, he's currently 'under investigation in the US'. Here's to hoping Prince Ali (fabulous he) ends up becoming pres, although considering this is FIFA there'd still probably be a degree of corruption.

I may not be a fan of FIFA but I'm glad to see Blatter gone and being investigated.

Time will tell. I don't really think Ali will be some sort of big improvement or god given gift, it's just that he's no Sepp Blatter. At the end of the day he'd probably be just as corrupt as other FIFA officials. Personally for me it will be more satisfying to see Blatter's position taken by the guy he won against.
