Anyway to forget bad memories?

I got bad memory today and its burrow into my mind and I cant get it out of my head

I've play vidya games to forget it but I cant forget it

Anyway to forget it?

When i have a bad experience, i usually just sleep it off, or do some activities to get my mind out of it like going for a walk or play some vidya gaems or just watch a movie.

…but seriously. Your brain will never let you forget your tragedies. You probably wont be able to forget it. Instead you need to learn to accept and cope with the fact that these things happen in life, take the lesson you learned from them and push forward with your life.

In the meantime do what Samekichi suggests and find something to sidetrack your mind until at ease. Whether its some activity, entertainment or just talking to someone.

I find that being able to talk to my friends (the caring ones) about what happens really helps

If it isn't rude to ask, can you tell us about the nature of the "bad memory"?

Like it was bad because you did something dumb? Or tragedy happend? Or someone make you hurt?

I ask this because dealing with bad life experiences could be happen many ways. And "burrow into your mind" is not alway the best option.

Before anyone misunderstand this: No, im not try to play psychologist. I just wonder if the "Every cloud has a silver lining" could work in here…

Well, bad memories are part of your life and you learn from mistakes, right?

But then again, do something that makes you feel relaxed.

Just go about your day. Hang with friends, play vidja, partake, partake whilst playing vidja with your friends.

Bad memories come up every now and again, they eventually pass. You can never fully get over them, hell I cringe now and again from remembering petty embarasents I had years ago. But eventually they don't become the center of attention, good feelings and memories almost always trump the bad ones eventually dude.

Live your life, do what you want to. I remember when my Nana died a few years ago, it shattered me. I never forgot seeing her lifeless, but it got easy with time. It's ingrained in my mind forever, but it got easier to remember. That's how I do it; I don't know your circumstances or how to forget, but I know time does make it easier. It would probably be too prying of me to ask you what you are going through, so I'm not gonna ask unless you want me to know what you're going through. It's very hard to forget, but time makes it easier to remember without pain.

The best way with dealing with a traumatic event is honestly to talk about it to a friend. If you bottle it up and keep it inside of you forever, it will always resurface. And always come back to haunt you at the most random of times.

If you can do that, then go do what 0.9999…=1 suggested, you should be good. Even if you don't see any of the immediate effects.

I'm sorry but you can never fully remove memories, at most you can suppress them so that they rarely surface.
What i usually do to suppress memories is to focus on something else, like play a vidya game, or watch anime, or try to make good memories to fuzz up the bad ones.
Usually what works best is not focusing on the memory, or what caused it.
If the memory doesn't resurface, or you aren't triggered by anything that makes it resurface for some time, you can expect the memory to eventually be suppressed to the point it gets forgotten.
If whatever in your case is traumatic i recommend surrounding yourself with friends and love ones, counselling works miracles.
It would be beneficial for us if you could elaborate on what happened?

Bad memory is a memory which makes you feel bad when even you think of it. So you should do exactly opposite. Like you have bad memories you will also have good memories. So try to think more about good memories. Our brain is naturally capable of forgetting something which we are not worrying about. So try to concentrate on things like games and movies. So it gives some relief.

I would say something cliche as make good memories to erase the bad. But, sometimes, your brain just keeps remembering the bad.

All I can say is, if it hurts and troubles you, talk to someone about it. A therapist, friend, or family. That can lift some of the burden. Memories that are bad can be painful. You can never really forget them. No amount of alcohol, medicine or talking can make you forget. Those can only cushion the pain and stress. So, there's really no solution to quick mind eraser of bad events. Only, some "padding", distractions and time can dull it.

if i have bad memories i will try to spend as much possible on entertainment things like playing games and watching movies. And another thing is that we should not be alone in these cases. We should spend time with our best friends. Yoga also helps to keep your mind in peace.

If you're into it, meditation usually helps calm you down and center your mind. You can better cope with the memory.

Defiantly talk it over with someone you trust and can take advice from, or try to gather multiple friends and perspectives.

But if it does get to be an issue, I suggest therapy.
