Can technologies ruin our productivity?

That is one thought I've always wondered.

I tend to notice that less and less people are product to work as much as our ancestors. And I believe technology is the reason why. To hold down, here's some proof to that. IMO.

-Tech allows us to do things at an easier, faster pace. Allowing us to do meaning-less activities more often.

-Tech also makes us want to be entertained more often (Video games, Television, Computers). We tend to focus on this more than our work.

-Tech also makes us less worry-full about finding foods of sorts. As we can just have them sold in stores, delivered from vehicles, and such.

I've had a "work only" mindset for a while, now. So I'm probably just being too obsessed on wanting everyone to work.

Isn't that kind of like saying that watching porn makes you attracted to women?
On the contrary, people have wanted to be entertained since the dawn of man, starting with stories in front of the campfire- thus, the drive to create new and awesome ways to deliver entertainment.

Also, are you really against job specialization? As in, the thing that means that you don't have to work eight hours a day just to produce your own food because there's a whole industry full of workers doing that task for everyone else?

Don't get all Neo-Luddite on us, dude. Technology has made things just fucking great in general, and it won't be long before we're populating the cosmos. It even allows you to post on a meme website while you're in a "work-only mindset"! (cough)

I think "productivity" isn't the right word. Technology has unquestionably enabled more production than could ever be accomplished by hand. What you're more trying to get at is "Has technology made us less active." And with obesity where it is and the fact that most fatness is caused by lack of exercise and not eating too much, you could argue that is probably true.

The whole world is OTT when it comes to people wanting things faster, easier and more conveniently, technology basically does nothing but suit that prime need of humanity.
This has led to an incredibly efficient age…
>The robot arm is faster at putting the little lids on toothpaste than the underpaid worker
>The building goes together a lot quicker when the crane lifts the multi-tonne beams and materials into place
>Smart-phone can do just about anything when it comes to communication and organizing shit, an improvement over a pigeon…

What xTSGx said. Without tools we are useless, but you eventually get to a stage where you have a banana peeling machine or a biscuit unwrapper. The biggest game changer was the car. This ruins are personal productivity
