I noticed a lot of images are only viewed or upvoted because they are gore. I often see unfiltered graphic images slip through moderation when images are uploaded and people's attention is driven to it. Tumblr was dying anyway lost out big because they blocked gore which is in the first place a… decent part of fan art and fandoms and meme culture. This site derives significant economic benefit from allowing gore because it creates shock value and is clearly what users flock to and what people are posting either through simple violence or flat out snuff. If the main argument is "think of the children!!!!" well, you can see how well that worked for Tumblr, so it's fine if KnowYourMeme does not enjoy bloody violence. I like gore and it has… something to do with memes so just allow it, take the risk.
Edit: Have you seen some of the memes here? Fukouna Shoujo 03? 2019 Tokyo Yandere Stabbing? You guys even put the thumbnails of these memes at the top of the site. Just saying a lot of you seem to love blood but seem hesitant to take that leap of flat out allowing it. Just do it, cover the walls with red.
