As a matter of fact, my grandfather once got jailed for a month or two in 1971 or 1972 for illegal gambling or something to that effect (he doesn't remember clearly). He told me an amusing tale while in the clink: one of his cell mates is apparently a suspected a pro-communist dissident who got involved with the PKI (Indonesian Communist Party). While in prison, they had to subsist on a disgusting rice and corn meal every lunchtime, so my grandfather's cellmate tried growing watermelon in a pot. After a few weeks, the sprout actually grew pretty big until it somehow disappeared, probably stolen by another inmate. His cellmate snapped, killed a rat that passed by and roasted it over a furnace during lunchtime. That was probably the only meat they ate in a long while, my grandfather said.
What about you guys? Has your family ever got in trouble with the law?
