Why the fuck are you guys scribbling out names from our own site that anyone can go see for themselves anyway?

Amyway, this lad seems to be confusing the TPP with net neutrality (somehow).

Are you guys seriously making fun of anti-TPP critics? Here is what I saw on the TPP entry.

It has been also criticized by several humanitarian aid groups and NGOs for limiting access to affordable medicine in the developing world.

So apparently commenters on a community website is far more important?

btw, this thread isn't "Pro-TPP General", we're only making fun of the commentators who act, well, embarrassing

You can see it in the TPP entry under the title "Critisms".

Even if this thead is not pro-TPP, that doesn't justify the fact people ITT would rather make fun of the activists than spreading awareness of this issue.

There are plenty of good activists spreading awareness (and to be honest, I'm actually against TPP), but there are quite a few idiotic ones (which we make fun of)

Let me tell ya something.
The fact we made this thread shows that we fully know the issue and its consequences but can stll laugh at it.
If you can't laugh even at the most depressing things then you shouldn't even be able to know the depressing things, you clearly can't handle them.

I am referring to the people posting in this thread. This is directed to everyone who posts here.

Have you in anyway took action to spread awareness against TPP? If yes you are ok. If no then you people are incredibly pathetic.

It is the priority of making fun of the activists rather than spreading awareness is what I am criticising.

It is of absolute importance and imperative that we take riff raff seriously and with complete conviction guys. How else will our psychic energies aid the god emperor in his battle against the senate and congress passing these bills.

Where were all these people when Congress actually had a chance to stop the thing?

rallying around ethics in gaming journalism

not even joking; a large number of the people on the TPP page were among KYM's most dedicated gaters a few months ago

Thanks for telling me what is OK and what is not again.

Based WarriorMan and his objective morality.

I really hope the people who are commenting just to trend it are being suspended, same with the ones who are advertising it on other entries. If they aren't then you need to step up your game Mare.

Some shit about harassment or something. They don't want people going there an sending him a bunch of replies so they want us to censor the names.

My god the "make it trend" thing is the worst. Like I understand discussing the issue and stuff in the comments but do they really think spamming the comments section of a pseudo popular meme-site is going to get the US Congress's attention? It's pretty sad, like I thought GG couldn't accomplish anything but at least they got attention from their opponents and the KYM page had some importance, the KYM comments for this are utterly worthless other than for discussion. God some of these people can't even life.

And of course as usual there's the "this cause is more important" pissing contest shit.

The TPP burned our crops and poisoned our water supply!

So, TPP is the sequel to GG as it relates to the KYM trending circlejerk?

It's also the sequel to SOPA as it relates to the "muh illegeal fanworks" circlejerk

Can confirm. This is a preservation tactic so that gamergate can continue its circlejerk.

From what I'm seeing, the comments don't really care much about that. They're more interested in copyright issues about fanart and media censorship.

Is copyright law actually being altered in the united states, or the other 12 countries that are part of the TPP? It's scumy enough that it might happen, but given the countries involved, I can't see it actually being a topic of change.

There is a term extension of 20 years. As for the stuff that matters to the internet (muh illegal fanworks) the only thing that changes is allowing the government to take down fan content that already violates copyright anyway without any input form the content holders.

In japan where the illegal fanwork is much more expansive and a more explicit "don't ask, don't tell" relationship between content creators, fans and the lawyers, that aspect will fade as the government starts getting into enforcing copyright law there, and the most blatant flagrance of copyright in Japan, the Comic Market, will eventually be shut down.

(I apologize for answering seriously in Riff-Raff)

To be honest, I seriously doubt japan would actually do that. Considering how ingrained that entire aspect of the entertainment industry is, killing it would be unwise, especially since its sales tend to boost the sales of the actual products, not diminish them.

Also I really doubt Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, and Vietnam are gonna crack down hard on copyright violators. Call it a hunch, but those countries if not embracing the spirit of fan works, certainly embrace the spirit of blatant and unapologetic rip offs and bootlegs.

Yeah it is pretty unlikely that Japan would just enforce the SOPA part of the bill. Still we have to consider the stereotype of the kind of people that make and consume dojinshi, as well as their general hardworking culture. Those two factors would lead to Japan seeing the copyright crackdown as a good thing if it means they get the otaku and the shut ins to conform to the work culture. The possibility that UN or lawsuits from foreign companies might force Japan to enact this is also a factor, but this bill is already tinfoil fodder as it is

I don;t think Japan is even considering the IP laws at all with that in mind, they seem more focused on keeping their rice and stuff taxed.

As for the other countries again, the UN might fix that issue, but otherwise they seem just as unlikely to bend down to the MPAA as you claim. Of course Mexico has the issues of being the US' next door neighbor
