Riff-Raff Joke Suspensions

Considering that this is the only board that suffers from the unique Riff-Raff rules, we'd like to know you guys' opinions on the existance of the joke suspensions. Did they run their course, or are they still a good method to seperate the wheat from the chaff?

Though we are prepared to have them removed if this is majority demand, this also means we are willing to agree on changing the way joke suspensions are handled (in case we keep them) since the current way is not pleasant for some (©Loli™). For example, we can reduce the 1-3 hours to just 1 hour maximum.

We don't need deep arguments, just yes/no with a short why is enough. Suggestions are welcome, but remember that any edits in the site's coding is highly unlikely to happen.

Keep them, but reduce the time to 1 hour and joke suspensions should be given and/or used as a last resort. For example, for breaking RIff Raff rules (?).

I'm mostly indifferent on the situation, but should we go with keep I'm perfectly fine with limiting the time period to 1 hour (this is what I already do anyways most of the time) so that they become less of a bother to people who might have limited internet access.

I say keep em. Lower it to 1 hour so you can suspend Loli 3 consecutive times in three hours.

I hate joke suspensions because they inconvenience me, so part of me wants to say we get rid of them entirely… But I think it would be best to keep them but reduce it to an hour. Sometimes it's the only way to stop people from doing some really bad shitposting.

what if that every time you get suspended on Riff-Raff, you temporary get the custom title of either "Loser" or "Nerd"

One hour seems like the best change. Either that or change the time to an hour and a half.

I've been joke suspended twice and both times thought it was hilarious, although the three hour penalty was rather inconvenient.

IIRC, the lowest suspension time currently is an hour.

i cant imagine a riff-raff without suspensions so an hour and a half or so seems fine

When users get their obligatory "first time" suspension, ask them if they want to opt in our out. Opting out earns you the "no fun" title, and exempts you from further joke suspensions.

Make it an Hour. 3 hours kinda kills the joke by being long enough to make everyone stop caring/posting. How else are angry posters suppose to storm back in and get banned again?

Not really. I don't mind about Riff-Raff suspensions. Indifferent, but i'm leaning towards to shorter times of suspension.

Holy shit boys, riff-raff has a new sticky thread. Clearly the world is coming to an end (or at least this forum is).

How about this: if you are suspended as a joke, you gain a free +1 suspension ability, and anyone can collect them over time and use them. The more you are jokingly suspended, the more you times you can suspend someone in riff raff as a joke. That way it would be fair and fun.

That would also require additional site coding.

I think a hour is nice. It's enough to send a message but not enough that dank memeposting will be greatly effected.

Suspensions are manually edited to be made one hour long. Your suspension token would allow the person to make the suspension much longer.

Also we're not going to code in a system like that.

i think this is a very bad idea. if we forget about coding and say mods and users have to remember they are "owed" a kick then the mods kick the desired user for them.

then what happens/? dies the user kicked by another user get a kick to use? or does the kick dissipate/?

if the kick is lost then only users that mods decide to kick (bad users and their friends) will be allowed to kick others, then you still basically have an elite group of suspenders (lol) but it's not based on site-based merit.

more interesting, would be if the second user would get his own kick, then we would have some sort of bizarre economy of kicks, where mods would have to limit the kicks so that there weren't too many kicks in this "economy" or the record keeping of who kicked who would be agonizing.

Mods and admins also agreed to the new 1 hour rule.

So in order to celebrate the new 1 hour suspension rule, I'm hereby suspending ALL OF YOU for 1 hour!
