Listen to me, please. Or, more likely read what i have written… whatever.
My son spends all day in his room on this site. Me and my wife love him very much but we're afraid that all the time he spends in his dimly lit room is not good for his physical or mental health. We understand you put up with him on your site but he should go out and meet real people who will expose him to differing opinions. Sure, the internet will make him happy while he's on it but only make him more miserable without it.
There is a healthy amount of time to be online and he has gone way past it, staying up into the wee hours of the morning makes him lethargic when he's in class. His marks are falling and the internet is partially to blame. He has tried to tell us that you are his friends and care for him but that's very unlikely. You know my son only through the skewed lens of how he represents himself online, I know you like seeing his posts but saying you are friends is a loose usage of the term.
He wants to help himself and that's fine, but it will take a lot of self-discipline to follow through. Most places for addiction (and people can become addicted to the internet) have support systems set up so real people can help one another with similar problems. An website against internet addiction is like an AA convention in a bar.
So while me and my wife are very proud of our son for getting along with all of you, maybe a site full of "bronies" and fans of cartoon pin-up girls is not the best place for my son to get the help he needs so he can be a well-adjusted member of society.
Thanks.
