I think it's a part of it, but there is a strong possibility that his main reason is to focus on responsibilities IRL. I remember him telling me he would be offline for long periods of time a few days ago. I assume it's his workload and such.

It would be healthy for him to take a break from the internet anyways.

EDIT: Talked to him on Skype. He says he still likes the concept of the site itself. It's just that he's done with the community. He said it will also help people be less nervous now sense he's not hovering over their heads anymore.
