Now that's suprising, he wasn't even on my list of sussy bakas

… Huh, so that's who it was.

I suspected it was someone, but I didn't suspect him. Although, I'm also not that surprised, because we once argued about me being a 'political' (which I'm completely guilty of), but I also knew he was also extremely 'political' (he just muddled it).

One of my closests friends is gone now, this will take a while to process.
I will forever remember his OC shitpost wars with Soup King, always one of the most peak content on this site.

Wow. I didn't always agree with his takes, but he seemed like a decent fellow.

It's always sad to see another regular getting the banhammer. This site just feels smaller and smaller as time goes by.

We really need more new users yeah

That's a shame. As others have said, Kommando was the last person you'd suspect. His vote-spamming activities and whatever his motivations were for doing so were pretty well-hidden, and it seems to me like it was only luck he was eventually caught.

One thing I'll say is that I don't believe that this will be the end of all of KYM's vote-spamming problems.

I see, Is there any evidence for that? I also wouldn't believe he was behind that.

Based on what I saw on the Discord – the "report-problems" channel – some of it stems from people paying attention to the activity of accounts linked to him during a suspension period.

During his suspension, the suspected accounts ceased being active, and one of them self-deactivated on the day his suspension expired.

Do note that there is still more information pending on his ban from the mods that made the decision, seeing as this was provided by another who seemed to know of details and provided screenshots on Discord.

"this was provided by another who seemed to know of details and provided screenshots on Discord."

Who?

Who?

Someone called Nari, who according to her roles in the Discord server is herself a mod.

Another mod, named Lake (and original name idamoofus) had also said yesterday that the mods most familiar with the details were unavailable, but would respond to Kommando's demands for evidence as soon as possible.

Once again, you can go to the Discord server yourself and look at the "report-problems" channel, this whole thing can be easily verified and researched over since there hasn't been much activity to obfuscate. You can even start with the first post of Kommando_Kaijin who went to the channel himself to protest his ban.

I cannot go on the discord

I can, and I am. What's the issue?

@Spacewaste11

I can confirm.

One can even search by name or word to learn more about the subject (or any other), because apparently there were discussions about this beforehand on the report_problems channel and elsewhere.

could've been banned from the discord server before, or just not being able to use discord in general, but i doubt the latter is the reasoning

If that's the case, I guess discord has more measures to detect ban evaders. If it's the latter I don't think this site is the right tech support.

Well, whatever the case, I sort of regret not looking into the discord more. It feels a bit like being in the backstage.

The info one can get is interesting, however, the public smoking gun for the banned user was another account called "Gellerkroft", a 2-year old account that had no site activity whatsoever, gave 300+ downvotes (for images and/or comments) in two days starting August 23, 2023 and self-deactivated the same day Kommando's suspension expired (this suspension was known, this wasn't a mystery to some). It also had the same IP.

"Kommando Kaijin", "Gellekroft" with avatars in almost the same style. The obvious Wehraboo nonsense.

I know how these threads can sometimes be used as a mourning for "lost users", and I didn't know 'Kommando' as some users here did. However, if the Kommando is going to try to use general surprise here as a form of character witnesses for themselves, than I want to give mine.

I knew an aspect of them and what I knew them as is the self-proclaimed "Anti-communist" and "Anti-environmentalist" who followed the multiple small accounts who were only there to spread right-wing (to far-right) political messages, but chided and complained about "politics" appearing on the site (mostly those they disagreed with). They melded right wing politics and memes together, and would play down any agenda with ridicule & irreverence.

It's an irony that was common behaviour that actually started the first major shift towards politics on this site, and learning that beyond this hypocrisy, they could also have been been behind vote manipulation shows someone two-faced.

This is not the profile of a "decent" person.

The administration staff have explicitly asked mods to not share the information/screenshots regarding Kaijin's ban, which makes sense given:
a) It is personally identifying
b) Immediately tips our hand to the other vote manipulating users on how we identify this behaviour. Yes, there are more, and we'll get them too.

Again, we are extremely confident that Kaijin's ban is legitimate, and apologize that this took so long to investigate.

discord is a shithole anyway, you arent losing anything trust me

The server has been pretty nice in the 3 years since your ban actually.

@No

Cheer up man, all that browsing politics turns you into a doomer. Try too look for some nicer stuff

Nice that the culprits behind those vote manipulators are finally getting what they deserve. Hope it'll turn this place a little less toxic with the grifters gone.

@No & @Steve

Lads,

Let this cauldron tell you that it's the pot calling the kettle black. Maybe work on how abrasive, argumentative or annoying we are elsewhere, at another time?

Anyway, now that Mod like Doeoeod has given their response, I guess this thread has fulfilled it's purpose. Hopefully as superjumpman said, it'll help with the local atmosphere.

I will be honest…I dont really remember who doeod is or why he remembers me from the discord server….honestly I dont really remember much of anything about the kym discord server I was talking more about discord in general

A lot of, if not most, internet users just turn into a single blur and hivemind to me in my mind tbh Its hard for me to remember everyone who has a problem with me.

Maybe it wasnt that bad of a server or maybe it was I genuinely dont remember all that well…or care tbh

Anyway my point is I was shitting on discord as a platform, its like designed to create the most obnoxious circlejerks ever I wasnt really talking shit about the KYM server as I barely even remember it at this point.

But if Discord is designed to create obnoxious circlejerks, then wouldn't the KYM server be one too…?

Kinda, we like to spend our time eating popcorn watching dumb kym takes while looking down on the rest of kym. Thinking we are superior while we share the stupidest memes.

So just another kym community like forum section or the comment section.

Lot of oldfags like myself hang around there.
