I miss older days of the internet

Be the change you want to see in the world, I guess?

I've been sticking to old forums for WRPGs recently, and I think it's been pretty fun. Curating where you go to seems to be the only thing we can do.

I remember going to stupidvideos to watch stuff before eventually discovering Youtube. We had internet at our house for a long time in the 2000's but I never really got to do anything with it until 2007, when I first learned about RuneScape. My favorite videos to watch back then were the Gmod idiot box series. They used to make me laugh a lot, and I remember first seeing TF2 characters in those videos before even knowing TF2 was a game.

I remember the classic internet times. America Online. It was back in the mid 1990's. I would usually search for edited wav files, mostly the parody sounds of Barney dying because they're hilarious.

I miss those days.

I miss rewatching the Mann Vs Machine trailer on YouTube and just waiting for that game mode to drop. I remember the queue to play was so full of players it took half an hour to join a match with my friends.

I remember when I watched TF2 through YTPs of certain videos and GMODs with Rabbids.

I got interested at TF2 at 2013 and told my school mate about it so he started playing it.

Me and my brother who shared the same account under my name which I abandoned long time ago because I keep forgetting passwords installed TF2 in 2014.

Sometimes, it looked like TF2 got uninstalled by itself and had to reinstall it as I remember. Maybe it was an update.

We stopped playing after graphic card from our older computer died and most vidya games we had needed graphic cards.

In 2019 after we got a new computer, we played TF2 again. I haven't gone to lvl 100 of casual, Competitive mode queue is bullshit and I mostly play Community Servers which are mostly Slender Fortress and Deathrun.

The older days of Newgrounds are what I miss. Sure the games and movies back then likely would age worse than old milk but there was something I liked playing the ones that weren't terrible or at least so bad its good.

Also missing those older days of Youtube where you weren't bombarded with all sorts of videos that consist of something terrible like anything out of Elsagate or people on either political side trying to do hot take videos in owning cucks or chuds with "facts and logic." And terrible as it is, even the older days of Chris-Chan I miss at least in the sense that individual's worst was just destroying a friendship by being a creep and being TMI with personal info that would disgust people.

The only good thing I miss about the old internet was less intrusive ads.

And even then, old internet had a way to screw people with ads. I can remember near the beginning of the 2010's ads that could slow down a computer just because they all had to run flash or something else that could cause slowdown.

I remember how, in early 2000s, many websites were filled with popup ads, some that considerably slowed down the computer and a few that even crashed the computer.

Lucky not to get those but then again, this ad told me I won a free Ipod. I gotta click that link.

I kinda like the era of the internet where there was a bit of a mystery to it. A Wild West where everything was unexplored. A goldmine of infinite potential, from logging into your favorite forum to talk about the latest episode of a show everyone watched to laughing at dumb memes from the early days.

2010s was never great

only immature manchildren still obsess over muh vidya muh tranime culture

the fact we obsess more abt politics and ideology means that we are awakening from consumerism to become more conscious about one's environment

"I miss those days when politics and dramas on the internet weren't shoveled up our anuses 24/7." Nope, those have always been around me for the past 20 years. Even when I was a child on a NEC laptop on dial-up.
