Simply things that give you a little hope for the upcoming year
For example, as a railfan, I'd say the year is off to a pretty good start when the biggest Mallet-type steam engine is back under her own power for the first time in 64 years after a long and arduous restoration project that 2020 almost halted with thefts and lack of funding. Six long years of work has paid off.

What are you guys hopeful for?

Mainly just game releases. So far stuff that is confirmed for 2021 includes the Scott Pilgrim game finally getting a re-release, Hitman 3, Disgaea 6, Super Mario 3D World's Switch port, Bravely Default 2, Far Cry 6, God of War: Ragnarok, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, No More Heroes 3, Resident Evil VIII: Village, and SMTV. We barely know what Nintendo has planned for 2021 so I'm hoping for something like maybe a Zelda Collection on Switch for the series 35th anniversary (though unfortunately I expect they're gonna make it a limited time release like they did with Mario's 35th anniversary collection) and/or Skyward Sword finally gets an HD remaster.

I'm hoping that this year will be the one where our current project is finished at work. It's my first "major league" assignment and it's been an exciting challenge that feels meant for me. I'm not sure how it will be received but ultimately I'm proud of my work so I hope everyone can see it.

Aside from that I'm hopeful that things will open up and more of my family can come visit me. Not flying out for Christmas was a huge bummer for everyone involved but I'm confident things will change soon. I dreadfully miss them and an opportunity to do touristy things without fear of covid would be fun.
