this has been stuck in my mind for a while. my question is where are all the memes came from? 4chan, youtube, this place, reddit. it is all over the place. with the help of a ton of these entries. i hope we can make a definite number on all of them. hopefully (please reach out to abacaba to make this thing into a video).

A lot of memes from around 2004-2008 were all over the place, lots of different sites hosted original content not limited to YTMND, SA, deviantart, niconico, albinoblacksheep, YouTube and most especially 4chan.

Since the turn of the 2010s, there's much more of a bottle-necking of original content. A handful of big sites currently host the most original content because viewership. Twitter, Youtube, reddit, instagram, iFunny, TikTok and Tumblr/Vine at their peak. 4chan still occasionally sees fresh content but it prefers to spawn derivatives of old memes now.

Also, KYM ironically has never achieved any notoriety of creating original content aside from its moe gijinka.
