Joe Rogan just sighed an exclusive deal with Spotify for over 100 million big ones. Apparently his show will now only be uploaded to Spotify

Judging from the dislikes and comments on his newest podcast people are not happy. He has said in the past that his Youtube numbers are a tiny fraction of what they get in downloads from other sites but it still feels weird that hes leaving Youtube.

Anyone watching him willing to move to Spotfy? Me personally having a podcast auto play or show up in my recommended is what kept me watching. Ive never gone out of my way to watch a podcast its normally just something I click on when I have nothing else to do and a majority of that is from the short clips channel.

Fucking insane tho, how this one single channel that costs maybe a few thousand to keep the studio up and running is worth more than some corporations.

First off just because it's valued at 100 million dollars, doesn't' mean that he's going to be paid 100 million dollars. It really depends on how you interpret "valued at" for example does that mean that the podcast is expected to generate that kind of revenue for it's run on Spotify?

Second, yeah, I wouldn't mind using Spotify for his podcast anyway. The podcast is great, and it's one of the few that I follow as much as I can. It's enlightening, and honestly, very optimistic. I really enjoy it.

I hope more big names leave YouTube, and google in general.

Money talks, Joe listens. Joe also says he does the podcast because he likes to talk to people he finds interesting or with on interesting topics. So long as he can do that freely, he doesn't care about the where or the whinge. Many of his viewers forget that and believe he's someone he's not and stands for things he doesn't.
He's a former competitive martial artist turned comedian and confessed "idiot you shouldn't trust" who's frequently high while recording.

The valuation is nonsense, it's a convenient figure for the headline. You could value it by the stock value increase after the announcement, similar deals made (if any) or by estimating the Youtube viewership, then converting it 100% to new paying Spotify customers; also what's the split of the supposed 100M or however much it is?
Having to pay almost anything to poach a podcast, streamer etc does not make you a competitor, it shows how small a threat you are in the competition.
