I know this may not be big enough to warrant a forum thread, but I figured I'd put this out there for the sake of feedback.
See, this year in particular, Twitter somehow became a massive echo chamber of politics and negative information. (For the lack of a better term.) Because of that, I chose to leave the site last month.
Now, being one of the few people I know who had the guts to leave Twitter behind, that leaves Know Your Meme as my primary content site going forward.
Now, I did leave this site 5 years ago for similar reasons, but honestly, I've come to love KYM's site layout much better compared to Twitter's. On KYM, things are sorted by topics and tags, and content is much easier to find compared to Twitter, where you have to follow the right people and hope they tweet/retweet the good stuff and don't shove your feed full of politics. And for what it's worth, KYM has either A) become a less negative site since I left, or B) Twitter made KYM's culture look tame.
I plan on staying on KYM for the foreseeable future, and I plan to use it to stay in touch with whatever the Internet is gonna come up with next. And honestly, stuff like Mio Honda and American Dad speed runs from late last year have me excited.
In my honest opinion, Twitter is slowly on its way out. I honestly feel the platform can't survive much longer if it's gonna become more and more consumed by politics-based arguments, and quality content becomes harder and harder to find. Twitter's form factor is also a major factor as to why so much of our modern memes die so quickly.
But hey, forget Twitter. KYM, despite it's flaws, is a good site. And as long as I get more positive use out of this site in the next couple years, I'll be perfectly fine.
(By the way, 2020: We bring back Expand Dong!)
