I have covered this topic before but I want to focus on the bad works specifically.

There are many works that can be considered "bad" or "mediocre", generally receiving scorn from critics, audience and fans. In most cases, it's mostly deserved.

Despite that, I did found a few commenters and people that like some of these bad works and sometimes find it great instead. I remember one comment from a Youtube video that this user was in a movie theater that was playing the Emoji Movie which is considered as the worst animated movie of all time. After the movie ended, the user expects the audience to boo but was caught off guard that they clapped instead and maybe a few cheers happened here and there.
And I remember a KYM user recounting his story of him and his wife playing PKMN Sword & Sheild which was regarded as the weakest entry of the franchise. While he didn't like the game (I think), his wife however did and enjoyed her adventure, mainly due to her playing Pokemon for the first time.

When a few people express that they love the work despite having a poor reception or infamous controversy behind it, they received…rather unpleasant responses from it. Though reasons could vary either from being accused as shills, apologism, having poor taste or not seeing the flaws. How justified these reasons are varies
Gamexplain did a review for PKMN Sw&Sh and while I didn't watch the whole video, I heard that they gave it a Liked It rating, which didn't sit well with some of their fans. The video is mostly liked but it did have a notable amount of dislikes.
I also found two videos that have people that explains why they like Fallout 76 and The Last Jedi (former is consider the worst Fallout game with tons of controversies though do note that the video came out during the early lifespan of F76 and the latter was considered as a very divisive entry to the Star Wars franchise) both garnered tons of dislikes. Though the guy that liked F76 from that video seems to not understand why it was controversial.

Regardless of the work's poor reception, there are a few people that like the work and/or find it great instead. Should those people's opinions be respected and considered as another outlook? Or dismissed as ignorance/shilling and just a poor way of looking at things. Would this also impact the franchise and even the industry in a way?

No it's fine to like them. I'm shocked this subject even needs to be brought up. The only time I've seen people have an issue with others liking a hated thing is when they act like a smug asshole about it. There are people that lambaste the fuck out of others for liking something but they're generally the minority and should always be ignored.

There is nothing wrong with liking mediocre movies. Here's the thing though, a piece of media is usually judged in two ways:
- on it's own
- in comparison to similar media
When people say something is mediocre they likely mean it in the former way. The situation turns around when comparing though. If the other members of franchise are great, the mediocre turns into bad. Such is the case with Pokemon, Fallout and Star Wars (even though SW average is starting to become mediocre as well). That being said both ways are valid, and you shouldn't be judged for using neither. The problem starts when people let bias take over and over/under rate stuff.

Should their opinions be respected? Absolutely, you cannot fault someone for having an opinion about something.

I think the real issue is when something is done with an opinion. A good example of that is the whole Pokemon thing. Liking something is not an excuse for a degradation of quality or standards, even if it's still good. Likewise, just because you like something doesn't mean you need to defend everything about it or the company. Nor does one person's opinion represent the majority.

On the flipside of all this, just because you hold a popular opinion does not give you the right to make generalizations about other people, nor does it necessarily mean your opinion is "right." Elitism is bad. Thinking that you're better because you hold a certain opinion is bad.

An opinion all on its own is fine. Using your opinion to justify less subjective or controversial statements is not.

I've said this before, but I'll say it again.

I have no idea why, but I enjoy obscure crappy games that very few people remember.

Stuff like DS Shovelware, half-assed licensed games, failed promotional games and… Warjetz…

Did you know that the NRA actually made a game for the PS2? It's called NRA Gun Club and it's just a shooting range simulator. There's nothing to do but shoot paper targets and water melons, no objective, no story, just you, an otherwise empty gun range and a whole lot of guns.

It's also only 155 Megabytes, showing how much of a nothing it is.

Good or Bad is all opinion. Even then, there are people who like bad games/movies because they can still be entertaining.

The thing is there are objective qualities you can measure when it comes to reviewing media. Improper grammar, long loading times, blurry shot, etc. When you start to excuse or flat out ignore flaws in that respective work and try to claim that it is good is where the opinion starts to garner negative reputation.

Lol no, most of the reason about why you like something is more about your personal tastes that you acquired in life rather than "objective qualities" or something like that. That's why you can hardly find two people with the same favorite movie/music/video game, because no matter how much "good" something is, there's still something in that product that you really like but you can only explain it with like "I like their color" or "I just think it's neat"

There's nothing wrong, just like whatever you want, as long as you know that 1. Not everyone will like the same thing and 2. The things you like have flaws, some have more, some have less.

If you want an example, I have seen a lot of fanarts and original arts, but this is still one of my favorite arts from the internet and it's very "mediocre"

This isn't bad art by any stretch of the imagination (at least on my imagination), but you don't see pics like this getting shared on sites like KYM, Pinterest, Reddit or Discord, because most people don't find it THAT good (just compare it to anything fanart-related you see here and you can see why). And not only that, I can't really explain why this is one of my favorites pics except "I just find this neat" and "I really REALLY like the design.".

Does Steven universe count if mediocre? (It’s more of a guiltily pleasure for me than an outright I love this show sort of deal)

Dud, why give a shit about others' opinions

People are allowed to enjoy or not enjoy whatever media they want, as long as they're not assholes about it; it's pretty dickish imo to diss someone simply for their opinion on a piece of media just because it doesn't fit the general consensus.

At the end of the day, everyone will think differently, live and let live.

Not as long as 4chan exist
