Normally, I hate politics with a burning passion, but we all gotta make exceptions every once and a while, right? Well, anyway, I don't mean to over-generalize, but…For the most part, KYM's general consensus towards the trans community was pretty neutral. Sometimes, positive sentiments would get upvoted, sometimes they'd get downvoted. Sometimes, the same thing would happen to negative sentiment. But for the most part, the general attitude towards trans people was pretty apathetic. But whenever a trans person does something stupid and/or amoral enough and news of it spreads…You can bet that KYM users with certain…unfortunate attitudes towards transgendrism will come out of the woodworks because they know that it's become safe once again for them to go on their chromosone crusades. And the sad thing is, a lot of the times, they're right. Just take a look at which comments have positive scores and which have negative scores during these situations and in comment sections related to them at this time. Assuming you're not one of them, you will not find it pretty…It really makes me wonder if – had KYM existed in the early-to-mid 20th century – they would have had the same problem with homosexuality. I mean, after all, that in and of itself was deemed a mental illness at the time, wasn't it? Hell, some people nowadays, still have those attitudes but have taken to hiding because they know that they're fewer in number and their views aren't as accepted as they once were. If only transphobic people were the same…Cause it doesn't seem to be that way around certain sections of this sight…Shit like this is why I might never come out IRL, aside from being bi. Because I'm afraid that if people around me in the real world being anything like the ones here, then it will no longer be a case of "nigga just turn off the computer."

You are reading too hard on this.
Like you stated, a large portion of KYM is neutral about this, and that is precisely why you see wavering opinions: because most people judge each case separatedly. There is nothing else to it. For example, the same can be said at a smaller scale about furries: comments throwing hate at them on an entry like this one get buried to oblivion, whereas the selfsame comments on an entry like this one get a better reception. The exact same happens to comments about trans people, where hate comments on entries like this one were not very welcome at any degree. Yes, I am aware that you cannot compare an oppressed group with an internet fandom: I am just making an analogy to explain KYM users' tendencies. There are more examples of this, if you need any.
In other words, KYM users have a bit of a case of pigeon memory going on, if you will (or my favorite analogy: "Sonic fan memory"), remembering only the latest thing to happen and acting upon that. People's upvotes and downvotes will be based on whatever is the favorite narrative of the day. Right now, pretty much everyone agrees that banning loli porn is ridiculous due to the UN's shenanigans. But tomorrow, you may easily see the same site turncoating on that if, say, an unsavory person showed support of the idea and/or got into a trouble nobody would defend in their right mind. And after that, people would go back to the first position if another attempt at censorship occurred. Repeat Ad Nauseam.
So yes, this is a lot less about trans people and more about a rather reactive userbase that you are trying to group in one category when there are too many people to effectively do that here. I believe this is pretty much why voting is such a flawed system for presidential elections in many countries: the same logic is applied and people just elect whoever made the best last impression, not the best impression overall.
Since you watched the show, remember that episode of Gravity Falls where Stan ran for major..? Remember how everyone hated him at first, then loved him because of a few sweet words, then loved Gideon's dad instead for being even sweeter and then loved Stan again just for one heroic deed..? Well, welcome to that, but in real life, KYM edition. You might need to get used to it.

KYM isn't a hivemind and is often linked to many other websites. Some days KYM articles get linked to left wing places, other days right wing places.
It's not comparable to Tumblr or most of Reddit but KYM is still relatively liberal on transgender issues. The statistically average American IRL still believes that it's impossible to be transgender.

Just look at that Indya Tweet comment section and tell me that again.

I don't see anyone in that comments section denying the existence of transgenderism with the possible exception of Molemanninethousand, who is making a popular TERF argument. The furthest that anyone else goes is asserting that a penis cannot by definition be female in the sense of biological sex, which is still entirely compatible with an acceptance of transgenderism.
Are you the guy that got all mad at me for saying "dude" to that its mis gamestop lady even tho "dude" isn't derogatory and plenty of people say "Dude", "you guys" and "bro" when talking to women?
One: KYM is actually one of the few places that isn't a hug box, where you can find a diverse pool of opinions that disagree with each other. KYM isn't pro-trans or anti-trans, it just has a lot of both pro and anti.
You know, I think it's for the best that people don't have black and white stances on issues and actually look at events on a case by case basis. No sane person should always back or always attack any trans person that gets in the news. Even if you are pro-trans, you can look at the "it's Ma'am" chick and go "What a fucking sensitive asshole, holy hell shut up" and look at Indya's tweet and go "That's not how that work you little shit"
It is unfortunate that the haters come out to spew their shit and get upvotes by people who think they are just talking about this idiot in particular and don't see the veiled damming of the entire trans community but what are you going to do? This is a softcore porn poltical news meme website, we should count our blessings we aren't ED level trash really.
Now if you replace any mention of "trans people" in the title and OP of this thread with "traps", that'll be a much more fun debate on a weeb site like KYM.
