Did they change how images work or...?

Maybe it's just the computer I'm using, but when I click an image in a gallery, it won't let me see it in the window. When I click anywhere on screen the image appears for a split second and it goes back to the regular screen. I have to open each image in an individual tab, which is just tedious to me. Anyone else experiencing this?

It seems like the admins ignore repeated requests for helpful features like editable comments or more image filters, but are totally cool with making unhelpful, pointless changes like this.

on one hand i like how I won’t accidentally leave myself 20+ tabs of image pages open when browsing anymore.
on the other hand i liked the appearance of the previous window. i can’t decide between form or function.

KYM's backend/frontend/everything-end was old, buggy, clunky, and difficult to manage. Give the new admin time to figure things out and work through it.

If we're being honest here, KYM was in a precarious state of "the site works unless you breathe on it or use a web browser". We should all benefit from this (eventually). For best results, consider:

  • Use Firefox/Chrome (these browsers have the best current feature support, and are usually fixed first due to popularity
  • Select Request Desktop Site on mobile. Android devices can find this under that one menu at the top right. iOS users can tap and hold the refresh button beside the URL bar and selecting Request Desktop Site.
  • Seriously just don't touch mobile if you don't have to (and if you're using mobile data, KYM isn't your friend anyways).
  • Report any bugs you encounter to the local tyrants

Tbh the first thing I was reminded of when first looking at the updated images was youtube.

Do not like.

Could the interface at least show up on the bottom instead of pushing into view from the side? I appreciated the image being centerfold with all of its links nearby instead of the control interface taking up a massive rectangle to the right.

Man, more image filters -or just content filters in general – would kill several birds with one stone. People not wanting too see drama or politics..? Tag-filter it out. Too many NSFW images for your liking..? "Show less NSFW" button (that actually affects the Trending section this time, though). Not interested in a particular predominant fandom's content..? Either of the 2 would work. And all of these can work together. These are common user complaints, so it would be bound to be a welcome change. I have seen this implemented on several sites and it essentially optimizes user browsing experience to its maximum expression possible.

But sure, let us keep hammering down pointless visual changes nobody asked a fix for without even consulting/forewarning users first, that should generate a lot of whitelisting users.

Hey at least we still have a hide fewer ponies button over there. You know, so we can hide all those annoying cartoon horses and all that, really helpful. So helpful actually that i don't even need to click it anymore. Epic.

I appreciate what you guys are trying to do with the website but so far, image galleries just don't seem to work. Clicking on an image gives me a black screen.

I like the idea of making the image big when clicked on but the voting buttons are too small.
