Seeing your responses on my previous topic, It inspired me to make this one; What's your thought on socializing on this site alone? How do you feel about the people here? Do you like the company here, or could you care less? Do you think KYM is better than any other social media site, and why?

We could be more restrained with our emotions but otherwise it ain't that bad, it feels like a "jack of trades" between reddit, tumblr and 4chan with many of their good and bad qualities

If anything, I feel as if KYM has a more inclusive type of community, and most of the people I've seen here are pretty nice..! It feels like you can be anything, and not be slammed by the people around here (Unless you present yourself as an asswit)
Some of you guys are alright, don't go to KYM tomorrow.

Well it is like any other place in terms of some good days and bad days you can get everything between a saint and a pure asshole in terms of people here.
Like you will find people on here that are like the characters of Babylon 5, having their days on and off of arguing over politics or other conflicting interests and POVs but more often than not begrudgingly or happily tolerating one another at the end of the day.
Not entirely sure if the inclusive community thing is due to how the site was set up, evolved over time and has been maintained by the staff and userbase. I definitely do know that there is very little in a way of form a echo chamber or so compared to other websites even though admittedly it still has the potential to be one as a whole with plenty of sub-echo chambers within it.
Everyone one here is a gay furry scientologist nazi. From space. Especially RandomMan.
I love this place. As I always say, I lurked here for almost a year before I decided to make an account because it felt weird to be part of a dedicated meme site. I really wish I made it sooner.
The in-jokes are funny, the people are nice, and the dedication to the internet is inspiring. Sure, there are a copious amount of political and celebrity controversies, the former of which can get very heated, but we still manage to make jokes of it. "KYM is a softcore porn site" is practically a meme now, which is part of my aforementioned in-jokes.
I like how, because of the overall small userbase, users can become famous. Nedhitis, YourHigherBrainFunctions, Bill-stan are my three favorites. I also met a now close friend on this website.
This website has also helped me through a period of depression I had back in spring, and I am eternally grateful for that.
I love you, KYM.
This but unironically
"Do you think KYM is better than any other social media site, and why?"
Yes, because "social media site" is not exactly a high bar on this regard anyway, so any other site can be better than social media, which is anything BUT social right now.
To put it in perspective, I once said to my brother and mother "(…) as if Twitter being mad at someone was anything new, anyway", and instantly got mutual agreement from both of them, but for different reasons from both since their experiences are widely different, being widely different types of person. Why is this important, you ask..? We are Latin-Americans, the side of the world where social tensions are at a bare minimum most of the time, so just imagine how bad social media has become if even WE are calling it out for it now. It truly has gotten that bad.
But being honest, yes, even without the social media comparisons, this site is certainly on the upper half of things community-wise, which I guess is mostly thanks to its small size. That does make it more bearable to browse, indeed.

It's nice that this site could help you through something like that! It's part of why I joined, too, so I can be included in a wonderful community with great people who understand and respect each other.
Short Answer: I love and hate you all at the same time.
Long Answer: If this question was asked a few years ago, I'd probably say something along the lines of "We're all losers, and I love you all" because I felt as if this was finally a place where I could fit in and be myself. But as time went on and a lot of things happened since then and now, I feel disillusioned with the community because the same loser I was those few years ago is not the same loser that's writing this post right now. It feels like I can't seem to hit the right notes with the folks here. And when I do, it's oh so rewarding. This is one of the few reasons why I'm still here. No ill will on anyone on this site, sometimes you guys come up with something I like. But I just don't think I can fit in for the most part anymore.
You know, this place is pretty nice, small, sometimes wholesome, and respectful.
Everytime I go into anything community based, my expectations are low. On Reddit, lots of people were salty for some reason, on 4chan, everybody just dislikes each other, YouTube… no…
But here, at least I can talk normally without people replying 20 times on how I am wrong and I should feel bad because of it. And even then, the amount of KYM inside jokes and references always make me smile. Even when you have an unpopular opinion, people don't tell you to KYS and witch hunt your account (only downvotes), H E T, even one of the most downvoted users (Bill-Stan) is well received… not with upvotes, but with funny edits and comments about them that they probably even laugh about it.
Me likey this place.
It really does feel like you can find all kinds of people here, it's not a huge echo chamber at all, it really does seem like the site can lean to whatever ideology it wants at times, I like how it isn't close-minded most of the time.
Nowadays, coming to this site is like going to a High School Reunion every day until you eventually deactivate.
"Sup Eris! it's been awhile, looking good! Seen Hypercat around?"
"Hypercat's dead, man. Messed around with the NSFW, you seen what that stuff did to David and the boys. . ."
"What a shame. Guess I'll chill with yelling_into_the_void like old times then. Laters!"
"Cya!"
. . . Yep. It really do be like that.

Yeah but on here nobody can see how fat I got after I graduated.

Imo KYM has one of the best modern online communities
It's alright. The people here are fine. Not the best, but bearable compared to other social media sites.
I used to enjoy the community, but as time progresses I continue to lose interest in the community in general
Anime tiddy seekers get boring fast
I don't particularly hate it, its just… meh

What is it with the KYM discord community?
I like the peps here.
I haven't gaven a shit about anyone here since 2016, let alone the site itself. I just come here to post in the forums and crigne at the front page.

I'm still trying to figure that out myself. I visited for the first time and one of the first things they did upon my arrival was stick a label reading "gay" to my face. Within minutes they changed it to "furry". Every time I look I have no idea what is going on there.

Kymcord is okay if you're into anime, video games, pro wrestling, gacha, and spastic shitposting. Otherwise you're better off either not using it or founding a niche server for the users you like, as I did with mareserv.
So uh, the discord server seems to be radically different than here, then..?
Huh. On this site alone makes me feel welcomed, great, apart of a grand family of shitposting siblings.
But.. reading about the discord makes me shiver at the thought of what it might be there.
It's basically akin to 2015 era riff raff condensed into a chatroom, the place is filled with in-jokes and there's nowhere near the amount of politics or NSFW fixation that you see on the site.
funny part is I was in the exact same boat as you guys, reading the messages there actually made my head hurt, but once I got into it I really enjoyed it, the community there has a very different feel to that of the site that I prefer

I think what drew me to this site more than others and what ultimately caused me to stay was how chill everyone is. Don't get me wrong you get your over the top users every now and then but they aren't that well liked and seldom last longer than a year.
Plus the smaller community makes it easier to carve out a space for yourself than it would be on say, deviantart, youtube, or tumblr

I dunno, I really seem to enjoy the site, though..!
But, I guess I could maybe try it.. if I could find it.
I'll just say this.
I miss 2015.

Mainly, yeah, but 2015 was just a good year over all. Bloodborne and Undertale came out, and we still had a competent president, etc.
As long as I stay within communities I have interest in (Smash, Pokemon, anime, etc.), I'm perfectly fine with the people around here.

It's an alright community if you ignore some of the fandoms and their most vocal members on this site.
I mainly come here for memes and finding art anyhow
A lot of you come across as elitist snobs who beat memes into the ground and then blame others for it.

Aw, I'm sorry that you feel that way..! Though, I'd love an explanation on why you think this!

I really like this community and the site.
And yes KYMcord is hell, but
you get used to it
y'all alright.
It's fun here. You're all people I can be open with, and I like that. Plus, since I am a big believer in ephemerality, I strongly adore the work done here, preserving our internet jokes for future people to learn from, while providing commentary which helps to explain and joke on matters, while as well giving insights into attitudes of those times.
My only problem is the amount of NSFW here, but I can avoid it, so it's nay too big a trouble.
I'm gonna be blunt, I feel politically this site is too "radical centerist" for it's own good at times. It doesn't help that as a queer person I feel deeply threatened by a lot of homophobia I've seen on this website.
I'll admit on the positive end tho this site isn't like, completely filled with awful people or anything. Infact I'd say a good friend or two I first met on this site[especially you, american ronin : 3], There's some people I do have some mild admiration to or can find agreement with[or at least respectful disagreement].
But than there's like, long existed people who like, legit considered mousillini "too left wing", "gamerz rise up types" and a guy who legit said "why should queer people come out?". Plus a lot of people who still buy into the whole "ess jay double u" thing. It's kinda obvious I've become a lot more left wing a while back but like, I'll admit I'm also guilty because when I first came here I considered mass extermination, sterilization and Nuclear Genocide of middle eastern people to be a reasonable thing and only like, I dunno, half the site even batted an eye to my statements. yea I was rightfully called out when I said shit like "Arabs have no culture" "I'm glad that british guy shot up the fucking muslims, this is revenge!" "they put a fucking terrorist team in the olympics" and other shit.
yea, I've had my good times on here but there's a reason I barely fucking use this site anymore. Not most toxic in the world but has had some exceptionally toxic people on it.
My opinions of this site are the same now as they were then: completely neutral.
I've never hated or disliked the site, nor have I expressed love or even nostalgia for it like some users do. I've put in effort as a mod to help with site stuff, I've expressed grievances, so on and so forth. Really, it's just like any other site I've been to on the internet. As a community, it's been alright. Certainly not as bad as other communities, but not as good as others.
As time has passed, with IRL stuff, I've been visiting the site less; it's not out of boredom or dissatisfaction, it's just me focusing on other things. I will say this though: KYM is one of a few sites that I do kinda come back to. It's always been a site that I can always kinda fall back on. Make of that what you will.
TL;DR: This site's gay. Needs more consideration from the gay community though.

I'm glad that we see eye-to-eye on a few video games.
The forums aren't bad, but because they're so dead, while the few remaining active users are cool for the most part, there just isnt enough people or active enough ones. It was much better a few years back, with honestly a great community of people who did all sorts, play fun forum games, have pretty fair debates and quality shitposting.
The comments section and that sub-community though, as always, is pretty fuckin' bad, the posters there tend to be that sort of typical whiny "Centrist" Anti-SJW types. Like the forums, it has got worse, but not because its dying, but because where it was usually just like bronies or randomers posting banal, short and dumb comments (harmless ones though) with the occasional stand out people. Now it has gotten to just politics for the inept.
I think the turning point was GamerGate, while the community was pretty good for some time after it happened, it was really the cause for decline. Though it might be more internet culture as a whole changed since the start (as well as in general the userbase growing up), but i think a huge part was how GG impacted the site.

I wouldn't be surprised, GamerGate pretty much shattered many communities online and altered the video gaming landscape.
I do wonder with that in mind of internet shaking event if the US 2016 Election also affected this site the same way. Like I certainly saw it divided the internet and really brought out the worst in people online and IRL.
Also, one thing I would add is that I noticed how busy American users tend to be these days with work and balancing other parts of RL with whatever free time they've got left. I've wondered if this has left some sites like this one somewhat barren in some areas due to pleny of people being too busy to spend time on them.
You are all very very horny.
I'm gonna have to suggest that you all should let your frustrations out on hardcore pornography, rather teasing yourself with super-softcore pornography that's regularly posted on this site. As well as other 2D erotic images.
Animated hentai is fine though, just as long you also supplemented with live-action pornos.
That's Dr. A. Ed Guy's orders!
Real talk: More importantly, I find political posts on everything, but the forums to be somewhat obnoxious, inflammatory, idiotic and very try hard.
How unexpected…..all this talk of pornography and politics is making me horny.
