This has been burning in my head for the longest time. Bugs….have a bumpy relationship with the furry fandom. Some furs are scared to death by them, some claim they ain't fluffy (despite dragons and lizards being thing), while other people go so far as to claim they don't count, especially if you ain't a bee or moth. Like, I do love bees and moths but come on.

The reason one of my fursonas is a beetle is because I wanted to be more original in a.sea of wolves and foxes. Of course, stigmas against furries make me glad I might not count as a furry due to the subject matter I do.

Btw, I propose that buggy or poddies be the term for humanoid arthropods.

Better question: Would that make Hollow Knight a furry game?

i believe in making the term ‘furry’ apply to anyone with any attraction to animals and humanoid animals, a catch-all term to save just a little bit of time in the naming process and with dealing with the intricacies and quirks some parts of the community has

Furry is a catch all for all anthropomorphic animals, different names for different suborders of animals is just splitting hairs.

I remember in some forum they called them something like chitins (for the general bug exosqueleton composition) but since they aren't popular enough it would be too soon mint a term for generalize them. would call them buggies too

Besides, I've seen bug furries before(mostly moths). Some can be pretty popular.

I mean, personally I don't mind calling subclasses of anthropomorphic non-humans under different things, which is why furries, featheries, and scalies are all different things. It's still "furry" in the sense of classifying it under a single fandom, so yes, it counts.

The best case to be made for arthropod furries can be made through the media featuring such characters. For example, see the following animation by Dragonfoxgirl.

In fact, I'm going to go check the furry gallery for this video and add it if it's not already there.

(Also, lovecraftisafurry is an artist on this site with an interest in unusual anthros. She may have some insight to give on the matter. Or not, I don't speak for her after all.)

Let me introduce you to seta. Setae are basically hair-like structures found on various invertebrates and on the sticky feet of geckos.

So some anthropomorphic Invertebrates could count as "furry/furries" or perhaps "setty/seties".

Be forewarned, some species can use setae to sting or agitate.
