I've never seen that before. There are usually several. In fact, since I noticed this, one has appeared, but I saved it on the Wayback Machine before it changed. I don't know how long it was like this. It may not mean much, but I thought it was worth memorializing.

At this point, you might as well just accept that KYM is a NSFW/Cute Anime Girl site with a few memes between them.
"Hahaha, what a funny and original joke, let me…"
No, really, the jokes of KYM being a softcore porn site are actually a true statement… suprised nobody talks that it goes into moe hell as well. (̶i̶n̶b̶4̶I̶a̶m̶S̶e̶c̶r̶e̶t̶l̶y̶B̶i̶l̶l̶S̶t̶a̶n̶)̶
Want a fun challenge? go into the trending bar, and start counting how many "pages" have at least 1 NSFW image into them in a row (a page is a part between the "Moar loading…" things), I can't guarantee that you will see 10-15 pages with a NSFW post in a row everytime, but that sure ain't rare to see here.
Want another one? well, this time, instead of nsfw things, go into "cute girl posts" (don't need to be/inspired from anime), now, just remember, if it's a meme, don't count it, just count the posts that aren't used for laughs/irony/whatever, count the ones that have a cute girl in it because she's a cute girl doing a thing and people like them no matter what. honestly I got tired with that one so I didn't even bother to count properly, got like 30+ pages in a row with it though.

Uh-oh! Let me fix that for you.
There we go.
At this point, you might as well just accept that KYM is a NSFW/Cute Anime Girl site with a few memes between them.
The users have spoken, and they have said "I want an anime girl."
They are being deleted.
A significant amount of NSFW images have disappeared. The Furry, Pokemon, and Monstergirl galleries are suspiciously SFW.
Even one of my images was deleted.
I don't know if this is a good thing to a bad thing.

Eh, depends on how you look at it, on one hand, NSFW content does bring a lot of people into the site and gets a lot of traffic (even when there are sites that're explicitly made for content like that), and on the other, KYM wasn't made for stuff like this, most NSFW content has near to no relevance to memes, they're essentially just there for easy upvotes.
Oh man, ain't that a sight to behold. A tragic one, at that, when what should be the normal for this website is now the rarity that we have to marvel at like Haley's Fucking Comet. Even worse that it has to be documented somewhere else.
Speaking of the Wayback Machine, I've actually used it before for such nostalgic purposes as looking back at when the Trending gallery wasn't a cesspool of thots and degeneracy as you see today, and I stumbled upon some observations regarding how that came to be.
The cause of the NSFW seems to be just dropping meme quality and lack of user interest in actual memes (surprise surprise), and anime tiddies are actually just filler material for the brief seasons that something does happen.
Remember when Cuphead first came out and that was all the galleries were about for a little while? Or recently, after that SSBU Direct happened and a loooot of people were making quips that the gallery was thot-free for like a week because of it. That's what I mean.

Well, sites like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, reddit, DeviantArt and even 4chan were not explicitly made for NSFW stuff either – and most of them still are not – but they allow it nonetheless and nobody bats an eye, and they have objectively more of it than KYM, and much more explicit as well. And all of these sites have very different main purposes, being only loosely tied by the classification of "content aggregation websites". Porn artists even settle in on those sites as their workbench on a daily basis, so, at the very least, their NSFW side is just as integral as with KYM, and much more integral at most – likely the latter. Nobody cares who watches such content or why, either (save for DeviantArt), and nobody cares about or polices the quantity of it. They just skip past it if they do not want to see it.
It really puzzles me why a few people on this site and only on this site are so defensive and/or up in arms about NSFW stuff despite the site barely allowing any NSFW material compared to just about any other site with user-submitted content that allows literal porn in despite not being porn sites per se, just like KYM. As long as the stuff is not in front of the entries themselves, I see no problem, and that is already the case. The most NSFW entry on the whole site, Piccolo Dick, does not actually show the GIF on the entry itself, having to willfully click it instead. And if the argument is about "relevance to memes", stuff like this is equally as relevant, and nobody is complaining about it or calling them attempts at upvote fishing.
So yes, I truly fail to see the problem with NSFW existing on any measure here (besides the lack of a long overdue user-controlled NSFW filter, that is). Every site with user-submitted media on the internet is the same way today, regardless of their main purpose. Hell, I bet they could actually just do the same for this site, allow actual porn and we would still not have nearly as much of it as the aforementioned sites. This site simply does not have a big enough community for that to happen.
And please do not give me that crap about "KYM is more like Wikipedia", because that is just a delusion. Wikipedia is almost 100% documentation, whereas KYM both resembles and delves into content aggregation practices at least as much as in documentation practices, so much so that even KYM's owners describe the site as a "humor and entertainment website on one of the world's largest content platforms for the Millennial and Generation Z audiences". Those are most certainly no words used to describe a wiki anywhere ever, but it does strike a resemblance to Tumblr's public description a lot. The whole "wiki" thing is just a fancy thing to put on the site's "About" section, and every site has that. Business card stuff, by all means. Oh, and Wikipedia has no ads, which is the polar opposite of having malware-ridden ads.
Can you imagine if PornHub users had the same reaction about all the memes in their comments despite being a porn site..? Now that would be a fun cherry on top of all this.
P. S.: Did you know that even Steam pretty much said 'fuck it, we'll allow legal porn of all types now' recently..? Go figure. Even other types of sites completely different from ours are on board with that line of thought, it seems. Really makes you think about KYM's stance, huh. Seems like the lack of an Edit button for comments is not the only outdated thing to address here.

First of all, I'd like to say that I appreciate your effort in writing this post, and I do see where you're coming from, but this is what I think.
Eh… sites like Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, Deviant Art, and 4chan have a very different purpose than KYM, they're community driven sites, where the sites themselves basically depend on the users, without them they're kind of pointless. They're made to bring people together and talk about whatever freaking topic they want, which I why people don't complain about NSFW nearly as much.
KYM, on the other hand, sits on the weird line where it's supposed to be some documentation site like, yes, wikis… it's right on their "business card" because that's what it's supposed to be, however, at the same time, it does have a relatively big community that regularly uploads content to the site, nevertheless, if say, all of those users were suddenly gone, it wouldn't change that much, entries would still be written by mods and admins, and they would upload the necessary images, since the point of the website is to document and collect information about internet culture.
To my understanding, the point of image galleries was to give examples of memes and subcultures, which is obviously not what they're actually used for, but eh.. what can you do about it.
The rules of NSFW content state:
"Images, videos, forum posts and comments that do not fall within the NC classification but are vital to the documentation and meet any of the following criteria must be properly labeled as not safe for work (NSFW) when uploading, including external links in the Notes section. Please be advised that examples cited in this section contain NSFW content.
Let's be honest, most of NSFW images are not really useful for documentation, granted, images like the example you gave aren't either, but the difference is that they at least don't give a false image of what the site is about.
Look, I have no problem with the uploading of NSFW per se, I only care about it when it constantly floods trending, when it explicitly becomes a major selling point, and when it overshadows actual memes, which it kind of is doing.
I do agree that the site kind of runs on archaic technology, and that putting a filter would solve plenty of problems, but hey, I'm not an admin, what do I know?
I'm pretty sure Pornhub's users would be fine with memes, as long they're, well, pornographic, since that's the point of the site.
I'm out of the loop out of the whole steam situation, but I'm personally ok with the porn games, since, well, they're still games, they don't exactly defer from the purpose of the program.
