Well that's slightly disconcerting.

Interesting topic, as an avid fan of extraterrestrial research I can really say that there is a lot more holding back this type of research.

GPU bitCoin mining has no sign of stopping as long as this crypocurrency is at the top as far as value. The search of wealth always prevails.

Unfortunately it is something for true researchers of anomalies pertaining to extraterrestrial life have to deal with. Also, including the general fact that governments across the world are making it priority to discredit this research, the people searching fame, the trolls out there hoaxing, the religious fanatics, or just the general skepticism from the mainstream media.

You people do realize that diversification of a economy is the basis for economic stability right? To use a an analogy that has a bit of a fallacy, but still illustrates the point, if you farmed just corn and nothing else, without any sort of fertilizer or such, then eventually your crops would fail.

What I mean by this is that all these stories about how (insert here) is holding back (insert here) is that for instance yes we could axe all say spending into movies, music, tv shows or such cause it's "not necessary" and instead spend it on developing a cure for cancer, however because you're not increasing your country's profits that method would collapse in on itself.

Why yes I can. This sort of mentality is also the reason why stuff like communism, socialism and such is stupid because what happens is that because you're spending all our effort on what someone else deems necessary you're creating a drastic deficit in the amount of production of a product that society is demanding.

Tldr; The whole "humanity should only focus on what I deem worthy" mentality is how you get the poopy butt. No I am not joking btw, there have been dozens of cases of societies cause they focused on what the collective deemed necessary wound up running out of toilet paper or other things.
