We are about one week away from the start of the PyeongChong 2018 Olympic Winter Games, which will begin on precisely February 8th, 2018. This thread here is basically about the discussion on events relating to the Olympics, the opening ceremony and official games, and any controversy that have appeared.

Seeing there is some controversies relating to security, basically concerns over North Korea nuclear testing and we can't forget the Russian doping scandal, though Russian athletes are still allowed to compete under the Olympic Flag as OAR.

You're free to discuss and predict on how many medals a country might get, along with what memes might sprout up during the Olympics.

I'd be damned if South Korea doesn't isn't in the top 3 or 5 in terms of medal count. I wouldn't be surprised if the U.S.A. and China were in the top again, but ideally a host nation would want to be in the top too.

Also, if there's anything in the Olympics worth watching, it's probably the opening and closing ceremonies especially if you're not a sports person. They're a real show to watch.

Pity that we don't have many Americans watching the Olympics and supporting their country. I'm looking at you, KYM Userbase.

Why would I watch the Olympics? I already know Sonic's gonna whup Mario's ass.

My problem with the Olympics is that-

A: It seems that NBC has a nasty habit of favoring certain events over others when it comes to broadcasting. I don't recall seeing a single BMX event on TV during Rio, for example.

B: Politics and misguided national pride always seem to rear their ugly heads at some point, sooner or later (not to mention some potentially biased judges). Though, I must admit it'll be interesting to see if any of the North Korean athletes are any good or not.

I'll still watch some of it, but the Olympics could really use some reworking.

Central time, you can watch it live on NBC's site at 5 in the morning. NBC will air the ceremony again with commentary on TV at 7 PM.
