DO NOT WANT!!!!
Indeed it is Bison, Indeed it is a time for saying Yes over and over again.
My reaction:
First healthcare, then you guys will take on the metric system, then before you know it, you'll wake up Canadian.
you're Right Bison Would Love Dooming an already doomed nation!
Eh blubber you got room up there for me?
Oh god.
I donta wanna be Canadian!
I hate hockey!
My reaction? I didn't have a reaction. I was surprised at my entire school though. All the 7th graders are all like "OH NOES WE ARE COMMUNIST NAO LOOK WHAT THE TERRORIST MAN HAS DONE THE HEALTHCARE BILL SUX LOL." What surprises me is that 12 year old kids think that they need to care about politics right now. I mean, it's important that you learn about politics, but when you're 12, all you know are the things you've overheard your parents saying and the things you've heard on the news. Plus, living in Texas is like living in a right-wing hellhole full of ignorant rednecks who think Obama is a terrorist because his middle name is "Hussein". Not to say that everyone in Texas is a retard :P
You are communist because you increase the health care of people ?
Ho, excuse-me, I forgot that pharmaceutical products and hospitals are lobbies mainly based on money, in the US…

I've never had interest in the Health Care Reform until now.
As you can see, in the course of 10 years, 0VER 900! and 40 billion dollars (estimated that this amount can be reduced by a 100 billion dollars) to add a balance to general medical welfare.
I'm vague about the topic, (and I really disapprove not lurking more when discussing a topic like this.) but I assume If you do not live in poverty, you shouldn't expect any immense changes.
For more information on this topic, or if you are confused on the topic, head to the CBS News Summary.

Are you from Canada? In America, we have something called a "Constitution," which (in the 10th amendment) clearly states that all powers not specifically delegated to the Federal Government is SOLELY reserved for the States. The Constitution is NOT, in ANY way to be tampered with, or the Supreme Court is supposed to deem the action unconstitutional, and the action is null and void.
The Healthcare Bill is in clear violation if the 10th Amendment of the Constitution, and is VERY unconstitutional. We are not dealing with right and wrong here. We are dealing with the very issues that our country was based and founded upon (i.e. government overstepping boundaries and ignoring the will of the governed, ex: Taxation without Representation).
tl;dr The law is unlawful.

That's maybe why it was possible to have one in France for decades…
Guess what.
France =/= America
We're the only highly-developed country without universal healthcare.
@Steven
You're right, we are. And for good reason. Just look at population.
America: 308,924,000 people
France: 65,447,374 people
Canada: 34,043,000 people
Sweden: 9,345,135 people
So, hey Canadians. SHUT UP We have 274,811,000 more people to cover than you. So yeah. That might just put a little strain on our already-failing economy. It's suicide.
THE END OF THE UNITED STATES IS NEAR! TO MOUNT SIANAI! WE CAN WARN THE WORLD YET!
no offense but, I'd like to see how many of you are actually adults that would be affected by this greatly? Oh and don't get me wrong I did want health care reform, just an actual Bipartisan bill… and no I'm not a "repulican't" or a "dumbocrat" I really doesn't matter who we vote for here the same effects end up happening due to both parties corruption.
anywho Sage this non-meme BS!
I'd like to get my internet on regardless of how crummy IRL's gonna beThere's no such thing as real bipartisanship, everyone is at least somewhat biased.
So, the "unlawful" argument isn't there anymore ? Can you quote me legal documents stating explicitely why this new bill is against the US Constitution (The less biased, the better) ?
Simply saying "10th amendment" doesn't suit me, it's like that amendment for the freedom of owning a weapon, more of an excuse than anything.
France has twice as Canada's people and we have something called "Sécurité sociale". I'm inviting you to check on how it works.
I still don't see how a bill, that has passed through votes, can be anti-constitutional though.
Most of the unconstitutional stuff is mandated and covered up.
Nothing this public would be unconstitutional.
Well, Lanthus, you bring up an interesting point, but you must realize that we, the youth, must inherit the debt caused by years and years of abuse of our governmental system by both Republicans and Democrats. Because we expect our politicians to be corrupt, they always are. Look at Jonathan Edwards, for God's sake. I don't think the rest of the world realizes how helplessly fucked up our leaders are, especially when they lead the third-largest (population wise) country in the world.
@Steven

United States Constitution
Bill of Rights, Article X
Joe Lieberman>John Edwards.
Swapped parties to promote himself.
How's that for selfishness?
Anyway, this will turn into a (IDK) if this isn't locked.
So, it may be a good idea to lock.

Hey, me too.
Haha, oh you guys are no fun. =P

@The rest
Oh, cmon. Seriously. We can have an intelligent discussion about something OTHER than memes. This isn't /b/, after all.
Remember when we added the General forum page?
I do.
Wow way to flood me guise!
1.I agree you kids will be the ones screwed over
2.everything is unconstitutional!
3.LOCK DIS!!!!!!
4. It can be has meme tiem nao?
>>I still don’t see how a bill, that has passed through votes, can be anti-constitutional though.
Bribes work wonders.
Also, it's not that is IS written in the Constitution, it's that it ISN'T. And if it isn't, then it isn't legal.
The Federal Government is meant to provide for the commonwealth of the American citizens. It's main purpose is to enforce the Constitution and the laws thereof.
It is not meant to work for the people. The people are not meant to work for it. It is meant to be a representative of the American people, not a ruling body. That's why, in the words of Fallout 3, they gave us guns and said "Hey, if we fuck up, take us out."
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Bill of Rights, Article X
How is this bill "against" the people ?
I still don't see it.
SAAAAAAAAAAAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're not getting it.
They. Do. Not. Have. The. Right. To. Do. This.
Legally. They do not. They have no power to do this.
…establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty…
Those powers, and those powers only, are the powers that the Federal Government has. All other powers are unconstitutional.
Don't bother.
There's no way Obamacare will be blocked now.
DING! you are correct dave!
and they say it's 'cause I'm Racist
Unless it's deemed unconstitutional.
Which I hope to God it will. We don't need to become Europe. We have enough socialized tendencies as it is. >=(
…To ourselves and our posterity…
and secure the Blessings of Liberty…
How is the Healthcare bill not a Blessing of Liberty ? Or Even a matter of Justice, a social justice in that case ?
>>How is the Healthcare bill not a Blessing of Liberty ? Or Even a matter of Justice, a social justice in that case?
Healthcare is not a right. That's like saying high-speed internet is a right.
Sure, it's convenient as hell to have. Almost everyone has it. But is it a right? No. You pay for it, because you want it and it can help you. However, what if Joe-shmoe (on AOL, that faggot) wants to upgrade to Roadrunner? But wait! He can't pay for it! Sucks for him, right?
But apparently, WE have to pay for his Roadrunner, because for some reason, he can't seem to get a job and do it himself. (Insert sob story about yadda yadda whatever, instead of actually looking at facts)
So, yeah. Healthcare is not a Blessing of Liberty, is not a right.
Anyways, I'll leave you guys with this. Night yall. =)
HIGH SPEED INTERNET ISN'T A RIGHT?!?!?!?!
You pay for it, because you want it and it can help you.
Well yeah, you have the choice, or paying for a treatment, or trying to heal yourself by… doing nothing ?
This is "convenient" to work while being badly ill or injured ? "Trying" to work would be a better word.
"Poor" people aren't the ones that are not working, they are the one that don't get enough money to live decently despite their work.
This is so easy to think that this "Obamacare" will be a catastrophe because only "non-productive" people will profit of it.
It seems it sucks to be you. Feel free to come here to taste how beneficial (and not "convenient") it is.
Tomberry, you understand the concept of "survival of the fittest".
That's the U.S.A's policy on the poor.
You see, if poor people get sick or injured or very sick, there are 2 different outcomes that could happen.
1) They die, which is good because, you know, that means there is one less poor person. Who needs the poor anyway?
2) They fucking heal themselves through magic or sheer strength.
What will follow is a country that only has super strong or magic poor people. Because the regular poor people will be dead.
I mean, how does that look in tourist brochures? "Visit the US, our poor people are magic", that looks pretty damn awesome.
Ha ha! I know nothing about these issues, I just thought I'd make a joke.
Oh man. Thats awesome, blubber.
Blubber, I love you !
@Blubber
Actually, our response is that our Poverty Line earns more money than about 70% of the rest of the world's average.
But that's a fucking MAGICAL Poverty Line!
>>they are the one that don’t get enough money to live decently despite their work.
Yeah, because that happens soooooo much. That's why people FLOCK here, year after year, to work here.
But apparently, WE have to pay for his Roadrunner, because for some reason, he can’t seem to get a job and do it himself.
"Yeah, because that happens sooooo much too".
Looks like you're getting your facts from the same place I do…
@Taryn
Can't see pictures. =3
@Tomberry
