Marisa is not creepy!!
Oh, I saw that yesterday. I face-palmed.
Seriously, STOP MOTION?! They didn't even bother mentioning the site it was from or let alone Touhou. :I
And Marisa is totally not creepy! D:<
What is this about?
@Joefilms
CNN made a stupid mistake by calling a Touhou MAD a viral video,saying that it was stop motion when really it's CGI, and don't even bother to mention the series or the website that it came from. (Nico Nico Douga)
and one of the newscasters called Marisa creepy.
In other words, they gave false information.
God dangit. Why is the majority of news media so stupid?
+1 for TVTropes.
Anyway, at least Bad Apple!! was given a mention. I've seen rage over it even being on television, but give it a break. Yeah, I wish they said it was Touhou, and they could've played a little a little more of the PV, but c'mon, it was better than NBC's freakin' anime week a fortnight ago(namely 30 Rock, Scrubs).
They did fail to do the research however, and discover that the Shadow Art PV is actually a better done version of the poorly drawn one. I do think that stop motion was pretty rad.
Speaking of anime in mainstream, anyone catch the self proclaimed otaku on AI? She makes me cringe, and she's the reason why anime fans get such a bad reputation! But she gets props for Hare Hare Yukai-ing!
Cirno News Network, guys, Cirno News Network.
And if they're doing viral videos, they better give KYM (or Geddan) a shout out, or I'll rage.
Actually, its probably better they did not mention it was Touhou, otherwise its all over…
Oh golly, news networks these days and their "research"… what a riot!
Also, I'm with Pterodactyl on this:
Anyway, at least Bad Apple!! was given a mention.
It at least shows that "Touhou", which is still very obscure to most westerners, is popular enough to be previewed on a well-known news network. It might bring in more fans, you never know. Though, as it is true with everything else, this would have its flaws. Not all fans are "good" fans, so to speak. Some of these fans might give the general public a bad stereotypical eye towards Touhou fans and none of us want that, right?
So, like with Pterodactyl, I'm also with Blah on the fact that it was better that it wasn't mentioned at all.
I'm guessing that they have no idea what Touhou is.
Anyway, Pterodactyl, you are right. Otaku have a bad reputation all over (though especially in the Western world) as creepers who sit in their mom's basement all day reading and obsessing over manga and anime. Anime is an art form which should appreciated as such, and otaku just respect that.
Let's write a letter to the Cirno News Network, full with Touhou inside memes, ooooh, it'll be fantastic.
I mean, anime is getting out there, and before we know it, it won't be as underground. I just want to be able to buy some manga and not be mistaken for a narutard.
@Pterodactyl
OH YESSSSSS. That would be funny even though they'd just scrap it or ignore it.
And I also know how you feel with the manga thing. I'm scared to go in the comic book section to be mistaken as one of those manga hobos or a narutard…
