I know it's not the only thing required for the meme, but it's probably the most important requirement.

'Derivatives' is a very loose term. As it stands now, it's mostly a viral with a bunch of memetic activity (the forum posts on both 4chan and elsewhere) but it's still unripe fruit. We need to wait to see what it develops into (a catchphrase? an image macro?) From there we should be able to accurately predict whether it'll actually be notable (memorable) over a significant period of time.
