Christmas or Christmas Day is an annual Christian holiday, celebrated on December 25, that commemorates the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. The date of commemoration is not known to be Jesus' actual birthday, and may have initially been chosen to correspond with either the day exactly nine months after some early Christians believed Jesus had been conceived, a historical Roman festival or the winter solstice. Christmas is central to the Christmas and holiday season, and in Christianity marks the beginning of the larger season of Christmastide, which lasts twelve days.
Although traditionally a Christian holiday, Christmas is also widely celebrated by many non-Christians, and some of its popular celebratory customs have pre-Christian or secular themes and origins. Popular modern customs of the holiday include gift-giving, music, an exchange of greeting cards, church celebrations, a special meal, and the display of various decorations; including Christmas trees, lights, garlands, mistletoe, nativity scenes, and holly. In addition, Father Christmas (known as Santa Claus in some areas, including North America, Australia and Ireland) is a popular mythological figure in many countries, associated with the bringing of gifts for children.
Because gift-giving and many other aspects of the Christmas festival involve heightened economic activity among both Christians and non-Christians, the holiday has become a significant event and a key sales period for retailers and businesses. The economic impact of Christmas is a factor that has grown steadily over the past few centuries in many regions of the world.
Christmas Day is celebrated as a major festival and public holiday in most countries of the world, even in many whose populations are not majority Christian. In some non-Christian countries, periods of former colonial rule introduced the celebration; in others, Christian minorities or foreign cultural influences have led populations to observe the holiday. Major exceptions, where Christmas is not a formal public holiday, include China, (excepting Hong Kong and Macao), Japan, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Thailand, Nepal, Iran, Turkey and North Korea.
While most countries celebrate Christmas on December 25 each year, some eastern national churches, including those of Russia, Georgia, Egypt, Armenia, the Ukraine and Serbia celebrate on January 7. This is because of their use of the traditional Julian Calendar, under which December 25 falls on January 7 as measured by the standard Gregorian Calendar.
Around the world, Christmas celebrations can vary markedly in form, reflecting differing cultural and national traditions. Countries such as Japan and Korea, where Christmas is popular despite there being only a small number of Christians, have adopted many of the secular aspects of Christmas, such as gift-giving, decorations and Christmas trees.

I celebrate Kriegsmas. Christmas is about peace and love, but Kriegsmas is about war and hatred!
Lol.
:)
well this is a thread about *Christ*mas not Kreigmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, or even festivus. Sorry mate-
I celebrate Christmas.
But it's not the traditional Christmas.
It's not about the birth of Christ, peace on Earth or good will to man.
It's about buying and giving stuff.
It's a very capitalist Christmas.
What are the chances Jamie Dubs get tipsy again then make an Auto-tuned Xmas song?
@ ADMIN
>Implying X-mass is not capitalist and a LaVegan holiday

I'll be free from this Muthaf****in' Internet Channel.
Kind of creepy, but not as bad as CallistoHime's artwork.
Given the situation that's the perfect pic to use.
:)
Today I played in the snow, and then went to Bishop McDevitt to sled. Heck yeah!
Why does snow not like Pennsylvania?
It's just about time.
It's christmas in a few hours here, and it's raining coldly.
It's about 7:07 out there, right?
I'm betting hardly anyone will show up on the site tomorrow.
Jostin, you're assuming that pretty much everyone on this site celebrates Christmas.
Shame on you.
Oops! I did it again. /blatant rip-off
But seriously, I'm sorry about that. I'm just sayin', ya know?
Merry holyday, people.
Yeah, happy birthday Jesus..!
