No. He's not a personal friend of mine. I said that I know who he is.
And based upon that information, I can tell you that he honestly wasn't aware that he would seem like he was calling attention to himself by talking about followers.

Taryn, you've gotta take a deep breath and stop trying to legitimize this into some kind of a crusade. You blew up. Realy badly. You incited a flame war. And you obviosly have let your popularity grow into some kind of a head trip.

There is something wrong here.
When he first came here, by the way he wrote, by the way he expressed himself, by the way he seemed to "take over" in the comments and then by creating strange topics with strange explainations that didn't make much sense (at least, to me) on his intentions or what he wanted, yeah, we had legitimate reasons to think that he was a troll.

Was it some kind of experience to see how we would react to him ?

He clearly said "I don't care about memes, I want followers".
You wanted us not to react to this ?

Sorry i watched you talk about me and my comments taryn was the first to comment on me thank you again and say cool story bro i didn't care to know what a meme is right but i still have just as much right to this site as you and anybody else do and see how you Tomberry says "WE" you already knew your agenda is to keep it a closed circuit from any one else i came in with my own feelings i expressed them of course for responses and discussion i just feel that some people read wrong and took offense to me as a new user.. I know a friend of mine who administers the site so i decided to check it out and see what it was about and when i got responses i was excited about the site and i know a little about its popularity, but wow some of you guys are intense sorry i cannot conform.. well i spoke thank you for allowing me back on the site Chris and i will not respond to any more comments about Tommy Mims a new user now a Jr. researcher by the way what does that mean and i started a forum about the politics about knowyourmeme.com i need answers can someone be a welcoming member to explain them to me.. LOl

I also agree with Taryn on the matter. Creating 4 random threads makes no sense, and it's like pollution. It tastes nasty, and it just gets in the way. I gave up on KYM in late August, but I returned because I was still willing to attempt to preserve the site. I consider it part of my duty to do what I can to stop the n00bs, trolls, and the like. From what I can tell, Tommy Mims is doing it for his own lulz.

If we handed out bans to all noobs, or just to users with annoying habits, then many of you would have been banned already. But we're not going to be fascists here. Hell, there is plenty of other irrelevent chatter happening in the forums that's not even meme-related. And it's not like he was creating threads linking to his twitter account saying "PLEASE FOLLOW ME" he was starting threads asking questions.

Tommy Mims wrote a topic, asking questions, but he wrote it badly enough, with lack of punctuation and words badly placed to mean something else, or having seemingly double meanings.
The first topic, HackerOnHacker anwsered, many other did it too without… "harming" him.

Then he created another topic, and another, continuing with some badly grammar habit, and Real Genius, Taryn, Tristan, me, some others, have been confused by this strange way of writing, even in his answers.

Chris, we have been confused because of this.
We are responsible, but Tommy, you're a little responsible too so please, Chris, don't defend him so much.

Well, the question threads are a bit abundant. They always seem like a nuisance.
Add question section for divided discussion board to the to-do list. Yeah, a meme section, a off-topic section, and a question topic within the off-topic section.
