Sincerity is the best accident.
A majority of memes start out as regular contributions to the internet without intent.
(Example: Internets. George W. is not hip enough to have thought of it as a joke, the first time around. He was just pluralizing a singularity, like 'mices'.)
If you must, then find a discussion forum with a twisted sense of humor and fill up a photobucket account with your attempts. 200MB later, still no meme spread. Usually due to the usage of someone else's meme.
At the core of it all, there needs to be: irony, humor, stupidity, or a combination of all four.
Like the videos here inspired me to seek out www.buffering.com, a site entirely made up of different video player's buffering notices. It's parked by a domain leech, so no meme seed.
If you try, it will fail. If you do not try, it will also fail.
Somewhere in between there is the meme.
