Supporters of #GamerGate have been portrayed as against inclusion, so we would like to make it clear that this is simply not the case. #GamerGate consists of a wide range of supporters from not only different areas over the globe, but also diverse religious, political and sexual backgrounds. It is a misconception that we exclude them on the basis of these backgrounds. #GamerGate does NOT wish to interfere in the creative process of developers and writers. We believe that they must have absolute creative freedom to explore any form of social commentary in their creations. However, #GamerGate stands against the use of out-of-context social commentary by journalists. If the subject matter of an article is not pertinent to video games themselves and instead solely acts as commentary on gamer culture, we feel that it should be classified as an opinion piece and not as a factual statement. The media has influence on everyone, including developer and their consumers. An author working on a draft of a new book does not stand to consider the quota of representation for minorities, the focus lies on the story they want to convey. But with the ever-growing trend of social critics in games, developers and writers are no longer free to share their content as they wish. Doing so often results in their works being taken out of context by critics, who hold them to personal standards and agendas that are unrelated to video games Our stance is that social debate is healthy and should be allowed. X Journalists would make claims of people like Anita Sarkeesian "playing video games all her life" when she openly admitted many times she is not a gamer and only starter recently (when it wasn't for an interview). Various developers trading sex or money for good reviews got exposed, journalists who accepted got exposed. People became a bit more critical about supporting a game just because the developer has a victim complex stating tat their game could have only failed because of sexism, instead of their own poor developing skills. What really sealed the deal was opposition often faking their own harassment. Anita sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn have been caught multiple times screenshotting "harassment" while showing that the harrasser's account name in the login. Or when someone called the police to help Sarkeesian against a "very real threat" she was posting about, only for police to find the harasser's messages were coming from her IP address.
