KO Recruiter, NIDO I automatically reject any applications that don't include year of graduation for college degrees. A degree in Mathematics which was obtained in 2004 is MUCH different than one that's obtained in 2024. And I make it a point to verify employment for all applicants. If you say you've worked somewhere, you better had actually worked there. People must learn how to be more transparent and honest during their job search.

If you want to set yourself apart in this market, you have to do more than that. If you want to truly stand out, truly be unforgettable... send a ransom note. Coltin Caverhill • 3rd+ Engineering Manager at Yelp 4d. • + Follow Managers, be very careful what you say to your engineers! I commented in a slack thread. It was a simple comment of "I wish we had feature X". I thought I was being fun. I thought it would get emoji responses and we would move on. The engineers solved it. Do you know how much we pay Software Engineers!? I did not mean for them to work on this thing and solve my issue. But they wanted to make things better, and if the manager points out an issue, they felt like it should be solved. This was not a big deal, and not a ton of time was spent, but it was a good reminder for me that I am not an engineer, I am a manager. And while that title is mostly meaningless to me, it means something to others. What I say magically holds more gravity not because of the merit of the statement, because of the title I hold.
