Supper Mario Broth @MarioBrothBlog Old arcade games often had "kill screens" that ended the game due to a glitch. The kill screen in Donkey Kong Jr. is on Level 22. The time calculation in Level F overflows the timer so it results in a time limit that is too small to reach the goal. DK Jr. can not get very far before dying like this. Curiously, the exact same glitch also made Level 22 in the Donkey Kong arcade a kill screen.

In DKC2, a Klobber enemy that is dropped into lava does not actually die. Instead, it is teleported so far up that it takes 3 minutes for it to fall down. If the player waits in that spot for 3 minutes, the Klobber will fall down from the sky.

In Donkey Kong Country, if a Kong throws a DK Barrel, but the level is exited before it hits the ground, then the next time that Kong is hit by an enemy, instead of dying, he will simply freeze in place with a shocked expression forever.

The prototype version of Donkey Kong 64 had highly exaggerated animations for Chunky Kong that were toned down in the final game. During his punching animation, his fist would briefly grow to roughly the size of his body.
