In fact, the Einsatzgruppen, in collaboration with Nazi Ordered Police and other SS units, killed over a million Jews based upon the Einsatzgruppen's own reports. Benjamin Ferencz, the Chief Prosecutor of the Einsatzgruppen trial at Nuremberg, reached that number by reviewing the 194 extant Einsatzgruppen reports and tallying the numbers provided, assigning a tally of "1" for any reports that did not provide a precise number. Modern research places the total at over 1.1 million. In addition to eye witness testimony and mass graves, the records themselves are also authentic.
