Vibrating GIFs

Vibrating GIFs are animated images edited to shake vigorously, which are often used as reaction images on image boards and discussion forums for dramatic effect.
Origin
The earliest known vibrating GIF instance was posted to the Worst Fucking Blog Ever[1] on March 31st, 2011, which featured a portrait of a bug-eyed dolphin shaking violently with the description "I don't know why this is so funny" (shown below).
Spread
On May 17th, 2011, Tumblr user ForTheLoveofBarbie[6] posted a tutorial for creating vibrating GIFs using the open source GIMP photo-editing software. On May 22nd, Livejournal[5] user spiekster93 published a tutorial on creating vibrating GIFs using Adobe Photoshop CS5. On August 6th, 2012, an anonymous 4chan[2] user submitted a vibrating GIF featuring the face of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle character Michelangelo to the /a/ (anime & manga) board (shown below, left) in a thread about the anime series Space Battleship Yamato. On November 27th, IGN Forums[3] member Dark EternalFF submitted a vibrating GIF of the Gorilla Munch cereal mascot with the caption "maximum over-rustle" (shown below, right) to a thread about the video game Asheron's Call. As of January 2013, there are over 75 vibrating GIF submissions on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic image-sharing site Derpibooru.[4]
