About

"Twiddlefinger" is a Friday Night Funkin' mod based on characters from animated videos by the Max Design Pro YouTube channel. Released in early July 2024, the mod for the video game went viral on social media, inspiring memes, fan art and animations.

Origin

On May 26th, 2024, Friday Night Funkin' modder Gibz posted a teaser for an upcoming mod based on characters from animated videos by Max Design Pro.^[1] On May 27th, Gibz posted another teaser from their alternative account @MAXPROLOVER988,^[2] their pseudonym used for the project (shown below).

On June 22nd, @MAXPROLOVER988 uploaded the song titled "TWIDDLEFINGER" to YouTube,^[3] removing it and reuploading^[4]^[5] it again on June 27th. The upload (shown below, left) garnered over 306,000 views in two weeks.

On July 1st, 2024, @MAXPROLOVER988 (Gibz) released the mod on Gamebanana.^[6]^[7] On the same day, a gameplay video of the mod was uploaded to YouTube,^[8] where it garnered over 369,000 views in one week (shown below, right).

The plot of the mod, described by its creator as "a love story,"^[9] revolves around a sinister version of Max Design Pro craving for the chicken nugget Gegagedigedagedago, the player-controlled character. A unique mechanic referencing the animated series is featured, with the player having to press a large button with the words "HELP ME" on it multiple times in order to unlock the good ending of the mod. Additionally, similarly to the viral Friday Night Funkin' mod Silly Billy, the song features a lyrical segment.

Following its release in early July 2024, the song achieved virality online, inspiring memes, fan art and fan animations. For example, on July 2nd, 2024, X^[10] user @Tadpole_971 mashed up the song with Trololo, with the post garnering over 860 reposts and 3,600 likes in six weeks (shown below).

On July 5th, 2024, X^[11] user @damassivem posted a Regular Show fan animation paired with the remix of the song that garnered over 850 reposts and 3,500 likes in three days (shown below).

More memes and other content based on the video saw spread on X / Twitter, YouTube and TikTok in early July 2024. On July 5th, Max Design Pro put a reference to the mod in his video^[12] "Chicken NUGGET Policeman Choose The Right Item To Help Max Who Has A Hurt Leg 👍️."
