The Game Awards Half-Life 3 Reveal Rumor refers to a rumor surrounding the possible announcement of the next major installation of Half-Life video game series at The Game Awards 2024 award ceremony. Started by industry insider Jason Schreier saying that there would be two major announcements at the awards and another user relaying a rumor that Valve CEO Gabe Newell would be attending the ceremony to announce Half-Life 3, the rumor inspired memes and discussions prior to the ceremony in mid-December 2024.

On December 10th, 2024, during his appearance on the Kinda Funny Games Daily podcast,[1] Bloomberg reporter and video game industry insider Jason Schreier said that at The Game Awards ceremony, held on December 12th, 2024, at least two announcements would make fans say "holy shit" (shown below; 35:20 mark).

On December 11th, 2024, X[2] user @Genki_JPN shared the quote, with the post gaining over 1,300 reposts and 6,100 likes in one day.
Later on December 11th, X[3] user and virtual reality expert @NimaZeighami relayed a rumor that Valve CEO Gabe Newell would be attending The Game Awards to announce Half-Life 3, the next major installment in Valve's popular first-person shooter series. The post (shown below) garnered over 560 reposts and 2,600 likes in one day.

On December 11th, 2024, following the initial rumor appearing online, the Half-Life news X / Twitter account @HL_Alyx_NoVR shared the rumor, with the post gaining over 1,100 reposts and 6,900 likes on X[4] in one day.
On December 11th and 12th, jokes about the rumor saw viral spread on X / Twitter as users weighed on the possibility of Half-Life 3 being announced at the ceremony. For example, on December 11th, 2024, X[5] user @Sabuuchi posted a setup for a Cereal Guy meme on the chance the game would get announced, with their post garnering over 450 reposts and 8,700 likes in one day (shown below).
On December 12th, 2024, X[6] user @ultr4nima posted a joke about Genshin Impact 2 being announced instead of Half-Life 3, which received over 2,500 reposts and 29,000 likes in one day (shown below).
