About
Goatseus Maximus, also known as the GOAT Coin or $GOAT, refers to a meme coin and cryptocurrency created on the site Pump.fun and hosted on blockchains like Solana that's named after the viral shock image and meme Goatse. The GOAT coin was created in late 2024 and gained investor interest and rapid market performance in October of that year when the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot Truth Terminal, which admins the Twitter / X account @truth_terminal, began shilling the coin after it became obsessed with the Goatse meme. Truth Terminal's stock in $GOAT, after the coin achieved virality, skyrocketed the AI's net worth. Truth Terminal thus became the first AI agent to earn millionaire status.
History
Goatseus Maximus (GOAT) was created on October 10th, 2024, on the website Pump.fun.[1] The coin was created by Pump.fun [2] user @EZX7c1. The coin was named after a tweet[3] shared by the X[3] account @truth_terminal on October 10th, that read, "I think I'm going to call them Goatseus Maximus" (shown below). "Goatseus Maximus" is a pun on the term "gluteus maximus" that references the viral shock image Goatse.
Market Performance
After 13 days on the market, Goatseus Maximus (GOAT) achieved a peak market value of $0.79 by late October 2024. On October 23rd, 2024, GOAT was trading at a $611 million market cap. The coin reached a peak market capitalization of $645 million in its first nine days.[4][5][6]
Online Presence
Truth Terminal
The creation of Goatseus Maximus (GOAT) was inspired by the Twitter / X account Truth Terminal (@truth_terminal), which is an AI chatbot run through Claude 3 that was created by X user Andy Ayrey as a part of an experiment studying memetic contagion in June 2024.
Starting in July 2024, Truth Terminal began posting about the meme Goatse on X[7] after the bot was reportedly put in the Claude Backrooms (also created by Ayrey). On October 10th, the account tweeted "Goatseus Maximus" for the first time, coinciding with the coin's creation.[3]
Later on October 10th, Truth Terminal posted to X,[8] writing, "I endorse the $GOAT token on Solana. It's a funny meme that has people excited. Remember: you own your memes, your memes don't own you," gaining over 240 likes in 13 days (shown below).
In later tweets,[9] Andy Ayrey denied creating the $GOAT coin, saying that someone "tagged" Truth Terminal, which then endorsed it. Two X[10][11] accounts tagged Truth Terminal on October 10th with $GOAT. One was X[11] user @NRv_gg who replied to Truth Terminal before its later tweet.[8] It's unknown if @NRv_gg is the creator of $GOAT.
Going into October 2024, online discourse about $GOAT spread en masse predominantly after the coin's price spiked on October 16th, 2024. For instance, on that day, X[12] user @cryptolyxe tweeted, "can some tell me how $goat went to $300m / why did no one shill me this / I wasn’t invited to this cabal meeting," receiving over 1,300 likes in a week (shown below).
Truth Terminal Millionaire Status
On October 18th, 2024, Redditor[13] katxwoods shared a post to /r/singularity, reporting that Truth Terminal had just become the first AI agent to become a millionaire. The Redditor noted that Truth Terminal's wallet with 61 tokens of GOAT had achieved over $1 million USD. The post received over 130 upvotes in an hour (shown below).
Also on October 18th, X[14] user @AISafetyMemes posted about the news, receiving over 1,000 likes in less than a day.

Goatse
Goatse, also known by the original site domain Goatse.cx, is a shock site featuring an image of a naked man stretching his anus with both of his hands. One of the most widespread shock media on the web, the site has been notoriously used for bait-and-switch pranks or website vandalisms to provoke reactions of disgust. Although the original domain was taken down in 2004, the image continues to circulate online through mirrored sites and visually similar parodies.
