JaytheChou, better known as the Paddington Photoshopper, is a gimmick account run by user JaytheChou who uploads a frame from a film or a TV show with Paddington Bear edited into it every day. Launched in March 2021 on Reddit and moved to Twitter in June 2022, the account has posted multiple photoshops that went viral on social media.

History

On March 9th, 2021, Redditor[1] JaytheChou started posting daily edits of frames and posters from various films and television series, editing in character Paddington Bear from children's books and movies. JaytheChou has since been titling every post "I photoshop Paddington into another movie every day until I forget: Day X." On March 9th, 10th and 11th, the user posted the first three edits to the /r/moviecirclejerk[1][2][3] subreddit, adding Paddington to Godzilla vs. Kong, Zach Snyder's Justice League and Inglorious Basterds, where they gained over 1,700, 1,800 and 2,000 upvotes in one year, respectively (shown below).

In the following months, the user kept posting Paddington edits to the /r/moviecirclejerk subreddit on a daily basis. For example, on March 26th, JaytheChou posted[4] their 18th photoshop, an edited frame from North by Northwest that gained over 6,200 upvotes in one year (shown below, left). On June 1st, Jaythechou posted[5] a Saving Private Ryan edit that gained over 5,200 upvotes in the same period (shown below, center).

On July 12th, 2021, JaytheChow moved their activity to Twitter, creating a gimmick account @jaythechou[6] while abandoning posting on Reddit. On that day, @jaythechou[7] made its first post, a Black Widow photoshop, that received over 50 retweets and 430 likes in one year (shown below, right).

The account maintained daily activity through 2021 and 2022, with multiple posts shared by it going viral on Twitter. For example, on October 18th, 2021, the account shared[8] an edited frame from Psycho that gained over 13,000 retweets and 120,000 likes in eight months (shown below, left). On June 9th, 2022, the account tweeted[9] an edited frame from Baby Driver that gained over 11,200 retweets and 182,600 likes in one week (shown below, right).
