Show Me What You Got is a catchphrase originating from a 2015 episode of Rick and Morty where a floating alien head or cromulon demands to be shown what earth has. The scenes in which the cromulons utter the phrase became a common photoshop format where the alien heads were replace with another head. It also became a reaction image to signify someone demanding something.
Origin
On August 23rd, 2015, Season 2 Episode 5 of Rick and Morty titled "Get Schwifty"[1] premiered. In the episode, giant floating alien heads called comulons enter earth's atmosphere and loudly say, "Show me what you got." The next day, Adult Swim uploaded a clip of the episode to YouTube and received over 1.7 million views and 13,000 likes in five years.
Spread
On December 2nd, 2016, Facebook[2] account It's James posted an image of a cromulon saying "show me what you got" while hovering over earth captioned, "when your dog has something in it's mouth that isn't food" (shown below, left). The post gained over 1,400 reactions in four years. On September 15th, 2017, Redditor They_Took_Er_Jerbs posted a minecraft parody of the cromulon scene to r/rickandmorty[3] (shown below, right). The post garnered over 620 points (90% upvoted) in three years.
On November 23rd, 2019, Redditor HunterW_69 used the scene as a reaction image to r/dankmemes[4] captioned, "Teacher:hands back tests. That one kid inevery class:" (shown below). The post acquired over 52,700 points (97% upvoted) in a years.
