About
Rosa's Thinking Pose refers to a posture performed by Rosa, the female protagonist of Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 (2012), and Pokémon Masters (2019). The pose sees Rosa holding her chin between her outstretched thumb and index finger. The pose drew comparisons to TikToker Nyannyancosplay in 2019, with many internet users making crossover art featuring the line Hit Or Miss from her viral 2018 TikTok. The pose has also drawn comparisons to the Thinking Face Emoji. The distinctive pose went on to inspire redraws and fan art in the 2020s.
Origin
Rosa is the female player character in the 2012 game Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 . She is also a playable character in the 2019 mobile game Pokémon Masters EX. In July 2019, various Pokémon fans began to share photos of Rosa doing her thinking pose by holding her chin between her thumb and pointer finger.
The earliest known piece of fan art inspired by this pose was posted on Twitter (now X) on June 27th, 2019 by @yo12187663[1]. The post gathered over 9,600 retweets and 34,000 likes.

The popularity of Rosa's pose can be partially explained by the online influence of two similar memes that were popular in 2019; the Thinking Face Emoji, and Nyannyancosplay's 2018 TikTok video Hit Or Miss.
The oldest reference to Nyannyancosplay in a Rosa picture is an edit posted on Know Your Meme[2] by ZoruaLoL on June 30th, 2019.
On August 30th, 2019, Twitter[4] (now X) user @MagicalGirlCarl posted a video they animated, showing Rosa doing the "Hit or Miss" dance, gathering over 5,000 likes in five years.

On August 31st, Redditor[5] /u/nuclearatomicatom posted a similar Rosa-Nyannyancosplay crossover meme to /r/BlursedImages, gathering over 31,000 upvotes in five years.
The earliest known meme referencing both the Thinking Face Emoji and Rosa is a July 4th, 2019 post on DeviantArt[3] by bob4545.
