Red Bird Laughing Then Staring refers to a video of a red parrot that appears to be laughing, then suddenly stares into the camera, often set to the song "Great Grey Wolf Sif" from the Dark Souls soundtrack. The video was first posted to Instagram in May 2021, spreading over the course of June as an exploitable reaction video.
Origin
On May 22nd, 2021, Japanese Instagram[1] user @hideaki_utsumi posted a video of her red parrot with its head raised, laughing, then suddenly staring into the camera intensely (shown below). The video gained over 1,800 views in just under three weeks.
Spread
On May 28th, 2021, YouTuber[2] Vault Boy posted an edited video of the bird to YouTube, adding the song "Great Grey Wolf Sif"[4] from the video game Dark Souls over the section where the bird stares, garnering over 3,200 likes in just under two weeks (shown below).
Over the course of the next two weeks, a number of new edits using the clip were uploaded to YouTube. For example, on May 29th, YouTuber[6] Brλden posted an edit putting Seth Rogen's laugh over the clip, garnering over 4,400 views in just under two weeks (shown below, left). On May 30th, YouTuber[5] ÇÅPTÑÇØØÇH posted a version adding the Vine Boom sound over the video titled "SUSSY RED BIRD," garnering over 3,000 views in a comparable span of time (shown below, right).
On June 2nd, Twitter[7] user @vminpartae posted, "me sending the video of my voice cracks to bighit as a joke and then hearing myself during the performance," referencing Big Hit studios, who signs K-Pop group BTS, garnering over 18,000 likes and 2,800 retweets in six days (shown below).

On June 7th, Redditor[3] u/0JustaMemer0 posted a meme using the video clip in an image macro, garnering over 15,600 upvotes in a day (shown below).
