#PissForEquality is a hoax hashtag campaign promoted by 4chan users which encourages feminists to urinate themselves and post photographs of the aftermath to social media in protest of patriarchal oppression and sexual assault, bearing many similarities to the "free bleeding" hoax.

Origin

On October 2nd, 2015, an anonymous 4chan user submitted a thread proposing to "somehow get Tumblr tards to publicly piss/shit their pants in the name of 'equality'" (shown below).

Spread

That day, several suspected sock puppet Twitter accounts were created to promote the hashtag, including @meeecaseygreen (shown below, left), @JustSassySocial (shown below, middle) and @Fem4everyone (shown below, right).

On October 5th, 2015, Infowars^[1] published an article titled "#PissForEquality: Feminists Fall For 4chan Troll Campaign by Peeing on Themselves," which highlighted examples of the hashtag posted by new Twitter accounts created within the last 72 hours. That day, Imgur^[5] user alank47 posted a gallery of example tweets. Meanwhile, YouTuber MundaneMatt uploaded a video about the hashtag, which criticized news sites for claiming the hoax was successful based on sock puppet account posts.

Also on October 5th, other news sites posted articles about the hoax campaign, including RightWingNews,^[2] Legal Insurrection^[3] and The Ralph Retort,^[4] with each citing tweets posted by newly created Twitter accounts as evidence of the campaign's success.
