Peter Parker Reading a Book is an exploitable multi-pane comic series using screen captures of the character Peter Parker reading a book in the 1960's Spider-Man animated television show. The comic has spawned several commonly used variants, including "Book Of Faggots" and "Reasons to Live".
Origin
While the original comic is rumored to have launched on 4chan, the exact origin is unknown. On March 16th, 2012, an edited 60's Spider-Man comic with a book titled "Famous Faggots of 4chan," featuring an "OP is a Faggot" joke, was submitted to the /r/4chan subreddit (shown below, left).[3] Prior to being archived, the post gained over 3,900 votes (96% upvoted) and 40 comments.
Spread
On May 28th, 2012, FunnyJunk user stinkytech[1] submitted another "OP is a faggot" version of the comic, gaining over 110,000 views and 4,000 points in the next three years (shown below, left). On March 27th, 2013, Redditor Willferrellisbastard submitted a comic featuring a book titled "Book of Faggots" to /r/funny.[5] Before the post was archived, it accumulated more than 1,700 votes (87% upvoted) and 40 comments. On October 9th, a Doge-themed comic was submitted to the /r/SuperShibe[4] subreddit, where it received upwards of 2,000 votes (92% upvoted) prior to being archived (shown below, right).

The comic eventually spun-off into a variant featuring Sad Pepe naked on a bed reading a book labelled "Reasons to Live," which typically contain various humorous things for Pepe to look forward to.
