About
Leffen is a Swedish professional gamer who is considered to be one of the best Super Smash Brothers Melee players in the world, primarily using the character Fox. He also competes in Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Dragon Ball FighterZ and streams on Twitch.
Online History
Leffen began attending local Melee tournaments in Sweden in 2010. In 2012, he gained prominence as one of Europe's best Melee players, frequently sparring with fellow Smash player Armada. However, he became notorious for rude conduct and comments both in tournaments and on the website SmashBoards.[1] After ignoring warnings to stop, Leffen was banned from Swedish Smash tournaments in early 2013.[2] Leffen asked for forgiveness a month later[3] and his tournament ban was lifted in early 2014.[1]
In less than a year after being unbanned, Leffen won several tournaments sets against four of the "Five Gods" of Melee: Hungrybox, Armada, PPMD, and Mang0. At the fighting game tournament Apex 2015, he defeated the remaining God, Mew2King and became the first player to defeat each of the Five Gods in a tournament. For this, he received the nickname "The Godslayer" from the Smash community.[1]
In the same tournament, Leffen participated in a Salty Suite first-to-five money match against fellow player Chillindude, which Leffen won without losing a set (shown below).[4]
On November 24th, 2018, gaming news company theScore esports posted a video to their YouTube channel detailing Leffen's history (shown below).[5] In almost two years, the video received over 1.4 million views.
Online Presence
Aside from his past behavior, Leffen continues to be a controversial figure in the Smash community for his blunt comments on Reddit and Twitter.[1] On Twitter, Leffen has over 295,000 followers.[6] He has over 294,000 Twitch followers[7] and 189,000 YouTube subscribers.[8]
Flipping Burgers Tweet
On September 26th, 2020, during a Twitter argument with Smash player Rickles, Leffen made a controversial tweet comparing the difficulty of minimum wage jobs to his Super Smash Bros Ultimate streaming schedule. The tweet was criticized and derided by the Smash community. Leffen later deleted the tweet and apologized for it.[1]
