Okarun / McLovin Edits refers to a photoshopped image blending Ken Takakura, the main protagonist of Dandadan / Dan Da Dan manga who is also known as "Okarun," with "McLovin" from the 2007 film Superbad. The image grew popular among the Dandadan community on social media.

Origin

On June 25th, 2024, Twitter/X^[1] user @Tallorinarts posted a photoshopped image of Okarun, blending it with Fogell's driving license photo taken from the 2007 film Superbad. The post received over 200 reposts and 1,200 likes in four months (shown below).

On October 3rd, 2024, Twitter / X^[2] user @mistushisama uploaded an edit of @Tallorinarts's post that reduced the resolution and added text reading "Okarun." The post received over 4,900 reposts and 55,000 likes in two weeks (shown below).

Spread

Starting in October 2024, the image saw a surge in popularity alongside the premiere of the Dandadan anime series. For example, on October 9th, 2024, Twitter / X^[3] user @GrandGuerrilla uploaded fan art of Ken Takakura and Momo Ayase showing their ID card that received over 5,800 reposts and 70,000 likes in one week (shown below).

The next day, Twitter / X^[4] user @giili13 uploaded a Netflix Adaptation me using the photo and received over 1,700 reposts and 38,000 likes in one week (shown below).
